I have been looking for video of that, the Internet is quite buzzing and you just *know* it's out there somewhere:

It's a one off, it seems, not part of a "shower" - the Quadrantids are finished, and the other showers going on are considered "minor", with no fireball activity
There's been nothing (so far) on the news here in the UK, is anything being reported in Europe?

I have no television, so can't tell you about that, but Spiegel Online is reporting it (it was visible in Northern Germany, as well)

Nothing on the BBC. However, I found http://www.thelocal.se/16990/20090118/

That should be bolide, not "bolid" in that report. I'd go with that; quite spectacular considering it was seen in Denmark, Sweden and Germany. Still looking for other reports. (The "fireball" I saw from my sister's home on Boxing Day was not a patch on the Swedish bolide)

makes a lot of sense. after all the entire evening sky was lit up, so it must have travelled a long way
the news i have gathered say it lasted for 3 or 4 seconds, was followed by a rumble (probably because the bolide broke the sound barrier) and a whooshing sound like when you put glowing metal in cold water
it appears nothing solid hit ground

i wouldn't mind finding a meteorite in my backyard, provided no-one was hurt by it, of course. scientists still find them intriguing
