(it's working, believe me...)
The Tutankhamun exhibition at the O2 Dome wasfabulous and the souvenir goody shop afterwards was where my got spent! Titania had been told about an animated ankh and she actually found it on one of the displays
We (Titania and I) got to the Friday Fringe eventually but how wonderful to meet Vicki Virago and Icy North (2 more to add to my "Researchers I have met" list) VV is her mother's daughter alright and Icy and MMF thank you for my and
My night in the hostel is best glossed over - too much noise = not enough sleep.
Saturday morning, half-dead, propped up my eyelids with cocktail sticks and dragged my poor tired body to the Natural History Museum for a meet-up with MM-lookalike Wilma, swapped then went round the exhibition which was worth the queue and then some more. We should have taken the till girl's advice and skipped the maze we ended up using the emergency exitas we couldn't find the exhibition but once in the enclosure
all flying free, and some even landed on us and posed for photosthe exotic plants had Wilmatoo
We then got a taxi to the British Museum for the afternoon meet proper and met up with Pete (Lil's hubby) who was searching for other hootooers while we bathed
A couple of texts and phone calls later a hashing t-shirt from h5ringer; and we (Wilma, Gnomon, h5ringer, Bald Bloke, Dragon Queen, B'Elana, MMF, lil, Pete, VV and me) started our tour before being joined by late-signupees Zarquon's Singing Fish and her son Little Fish whom I enjoyed meeting very much, *nods to the parenting skills of Mum* what a lovely young man (plus I even got a hug and when they left to be home in time for Doctor Who
We enjoyed the Egyptian exhibits, especially the argument over the sarcophagus/bath with holes drilled in the base, (I said it was a decorated bath) so when we read it and it had been a sarcophagus that someone else turned into ceremonial bathmuch laughter and jokes and more tellings off for having too much of a good time
The Greek things (I knew I should've taken notes!) and the library where we were supposed to be quiet or somethingdidn't quite succeedsomeone told me off oops, GB getting too excited, whatever next?
Little Fish impressed us all by pointing out that a huge stack of books was actually a door and on closer inspection it was! What a clever young man!
h5ringer took a much better photo of the Rosetta Stone than I did (he's taller)
Dragon Queen treated herself to a cat goddess statue (Bastest - see, I do know *some* things) but it was too big to carry so she paid megabucks to have it delivered to her home
Wilma did her Marilyn Monroe impersonation and I got photographic evidence but I'm still awaiting permission to display that one
VV blew up the perfunctory blow-up toy for interesting photo opportunities and we said goodbye to Wilma
then made our way to the Shakespeare's Head, where we are becoming quite the regulars...along with non-hootooers in attendance I thought I'd spotted an Elvis Impersonator in a long blue sparkly sequined coat and when I looked closely on my way to the ladies* he had make-up to match! However when I went back to our table to grab my camera to take a snap for pailaway, I was told he wasn't an Elvis Impersonator, he was just *dressed up* for a night out
OK...
That closet heterosexual Roymondo complained the loudest about my cleavageis that what he said? I forget the exact words...
Gave away all the hootoo t-shirts (and thank you to the stripper Thatprat for *that* shot)
Pub meal was good...good food, good company, what more can you ask? Just an injection of energy, I was flagging fast from lack of sleep and all the walking and all those stairs I think I was first to leave, sorry all.
I've just been trying to upload my pictures, but I know there are some which can't be uploaded so until I've filtered said non-printable ones, they're staying offline
Thank you to everyone who travelled so far to be with us and special mention to B'Elana, Titania and Gnomon who flew in from their respective countries
Special thanks to Gnomon for telling me my Bootes constellation was FP for the weekend and he'd emailed in a star chart before he left for the airport and the Eds had slapped it on my Entry
Thank you to MMF and 2legs for organising the whole meets as usual
Wonderful time, thanks all, you know who you are
The special Tut carrier bag got me lots of envious looks on the way back to Cleethorpes
*I've not forgotten your little joke about them not letting me in, lil, your card is marked, dear
I've no idea how long it will take to get my brain into gear and all the parts checked before I dare restart subbing and OMG I have entries in PR which need attentionI think an early night is in order, in my own bed, my own pillows
Watch out tomorrow, those in need of a thorough subbing - I'll be back in action (hopefully)
I *almost* forgot the photo link...pailaway would never forgive me!

Blimey, GB... How did you manage to condense so much into that Journal entry? I wish I could have done that... But I was never good at taking shortcuts, if I can take a long route... as I demonstrated yesterday!!! .
Lovely to see you again, and let's hope I can make the Hull Meet!!!

Awwww that one
*uploaded*
I've made the butterfly pics 200x200 after centring them, they take up a lot less space and we don't need all the nettles & mud & people's feet, did we?
Have you seen that butterfly you took that was resting on the mirror, Wilma?
I'm torn between that and the fruity butterfly for the star of the album

Good morning oh huggable and kissable B'El and yes, I do, (he's actually very nice if you stay on the right side of him)
that sounds too technical for me, but there must be someone who knows how to fix stuff like that? U228046 or U566116 maybe
with that, I'll make the darling,

We don't all live in England, B'Elana flew from Germany, Titania flew from Sweden, Gnomon flew from Ireland, I rattled my poor old bones on two trains all the way from...north east England
