This month's Sky At Night, the BBC2 afternoon repeat should be today (Saturday 11 Aug) 12noon-12.20pm it features a spot on Galaxy Zoo.

The object itself looks like a reflection of the nearby star.

ooh, hello Gnomon, it's classified as a galaxy though, I wouldn't have thought a reflection could do that?

It's classified as a galaxy by the robots, but what do they know? That why Galaxy Zoo are using humans to do the job.

The third example in the FAQ page shows a star reflection, although their picture also shows the star. It looks a bit different from your one, though. It is all one colour (in this case green). Yours is grey, which means it is getting colour from all three imaging devices (red, green and blue).

Good call, Gnomon - I certainly wouldn't have figured that out.

There's much to learn.

I don't know whether it is a good call or not. The sharp edge on the left-hand side certainly suggests a reflection. But the colour doesn't.
