That's not cheating, that's called maximizing your resources
And I notice that Jimi X finally hit the 1,000 barrier at 9:15am this morning - YAY!!!

I was telling H last night about this thread and he said that the pcs at w*rk keep being turned off, so for the last few weekends they haven't been running.
It must be the AMD working hard, cos my pc spends most of its time crashing!

If you've got a few machines running, you only need a few hours here and there from them to tot up those units.

True ... I've got it running on both my computers here at w**k. The Windows machine will only get through about 1 unit a day, but the Mac flies through about 3 or 4 ... But 1 unit a day is 7 a week, so they'll add up!

Finally!
I just got a really speedy machine at the office and it's just tearing through the units! Of course our network was down all day so I wasn't able to post the good news until nearly 12 hours later.

Our network is down here too! They can't figure out what's wrong, and all the Tribune sites are down. Hmmm ...

Congrats!
Anyone else notice that seti has not been responding quickly of late? I almost always find that it cannot connect to teh server.
over 1,000 seti units!
GreyDesk Posted Sep 8, 2003
Yes occasionally. I usually hit the button to say 'connect now' and it does it.
I guess I do lose some time on the occasions when I'm not on the computer. But as those who know me will tell you, those occasions are few and far between

I'm sorry to say that I am about to stop crunching Seti units. I've decided to defect to this lot - http://www.climateprediction.net/index.php - which I feel is a more useful application of my spare processor power.
I'm not stopping just yet - I want to beat Silly Willy and get 9th place you see . And also I won't be leaving the h2g2Seti group, I just won't be contributing anymore units to the total.

GreyDesk Posted Sep 17, 2003
Right then, the climateprediction stuff is installed and up and running. Seti is now set to only work under screensaver conditions - which I never run, so it is effectively hung from here on in.
* waves bye-bye *

3000 units over teh weekend some time. Now I wonder if I can make 5000 before BOINC is used.

Coniraya Posted Oct 21, 2003
BOINC? What's that then?
Perhaps I had better go and check the seti pages.
