African heatwave in Northern Europe doesn't feel right. Frankly, the Russian heatwave wasn't any better, really.
I have been neglecting hootoo. I have been neglecting everything, for that matter. Even w'rk. Or should I say I didn't have any. They call it holiday, for some odd reason. Anyway, in theory it should be over now. Real life my turn out to be something completely different and I can't even exclude tape recorders and noses. There are huge changes going on and lowlifes like me are kept well uninformed. So I may find myself enjoying an endless vacation from tomorrow on. Well, that's tomorrow.
For some days we had a theatre festival here. Amazing things people do on stage... Most of it was good, actually. I shouldn't complain. Well, apart from the fact that all the rooms/stages were hothothot and there was no air to breathe etc.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwZetBOFOFs&feature=related was quite enjoyable.
Faust in 2360 words was my absolute favourite: http://www.figurentheaterfestival.de/2007/fotos/Axe_faust2360words.JPG
Romeo Castellucci's "Hey, Girl!" was very impressive. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOPvjQ2pmag&feature=related
Right... Did I mention the heatwave? It will last for few weeks.

That guy in the first link has amazing eyebrows!
Hi Hati! Let's hope things start looking up again soon. This heatwave makes it harder for us Northern types. Wish we could have saved some of that snow from last winter!

I should have been as smart and now just have a break from doing nothing. Unfortunately, I decided that the lawn edges really needed a trim (well, they did) and that today was a good day for doing it (well, no - too hot).
with somethingness and coping with the heat.

Heatwaves are dreadful even for us not so northern types. It saps your strength and makes you headachy and grumpy and depressed and all sorts of other unpleasant things. I hope you get some relief soon.

The heat makes me all swollen, so I can be grumpy at home as I don't have shoes that large. Actually I went to the beach, that was nice. Water in the sea was about 23-25C and that's unusually warm for these corners. Bad news is the air humidity which is around 70%.
And there's football on tv, which I don't usually watch. It must be the heat...

Heat wave? What heat wave?
We had to have the heater on yesterday, and while it certainly wasn't cold today, I spent two hours cutting and moving logs without breaking a sweat. Wearing a fleece now.
So just come over here, everyone.

I didn't lose my job today after all, so I'm afraid I can't move to Ireland or Australia right now. And it's getting even warmer here.

I have finally decided to go on a road trip to Nordkap, Norway. No heat wave there (the next stop from there is the North Pole)
Actually I decided this years ago already, but now it actually seems that we are going to make it
Maybe this summer even, maybe next summer

Maybe you should start with going to Aarhus and see where you end up. Mmmno... You have done that already. Didn't change much anything. Have you considered moving to Aarhus?

earlier I spend a few days in a meeting room with ten people .. the room had AWCO facilities (All Windows Can be Opened).
Those are two shirts per day sessions.
it is just over 30 now
Some 50 km south there are thousands walking 50 km per day, for four days. They volunteered for it. They say it's a sports event, I think it's a psychological experiment. I should ask the mice about it.

at least your lot open the windows - here they won't do that because once someone forgot to close one and it was open all night...
we do have A/C though - which right now is set to 18°C which is quite chilly... the heat when you go outside is like a brick hitting you in the face.
Still - for me, currently restricted to bike/bus/train it's not too bad by the time i get home it's cooled down a bit.
Can I sign up for the expedition to the Far North?

Hypatia Posted Jul 20, 2010
Hapi, I'll trade you your 30º for our 39º. Did I mention we have 75-80% humidity to go with that? But not to worry. It will cool off here in another 8 weeks or so.
Taking a break from nothing.
Hypatia Posted Jul 20, 2010
Yep. Our overnight lows are staying around 26C and afternoon highs of around 36C with a heat index of 43-44C. So I figured 39C would be a fair assessment. And I have some cold Samuel Adams in the fridge along with a few bottles of Guiness. But you have to come drink them here. They'll be pretty hot by the time you get them if I mail them to you.
