"art" and "fashion"

So there I was once again a bit over my head, out of my element, etc. Went to a SoHo art opening, sponsored by Elle magazine. If you want to call it art... not that I didn't enjoy it, it was a blast (I never pass down a free drink or three). But the art was, um... less than traditional... (however very neat) One of my favorite pieces was a personal disco. It was a 7 foot by 3 by 3 closet that had music and disco lights and fabulously painted on the inside, but looked like a regular piece of furniture on the outside. Actually the rest of the pieces were of a similiar vein... a personal beach, a personal go-go club... interesting...

And the people there... well, you know when you look in magazines like Elle, and Vogue and watch runway models and you think "Who really wear those clothes?" Well, they do. Very very interesting.

But once again I decided that I could never really get into the art or fashion scene because I really don't take myself seriously enough... a blessing me thinks

Traffic

So it has been an interesting week. 150 kings, presidents, premieres, dictators, and world leaders in town for the UN World Summit; the US Open in town; the Mets losing more games at home; and the MTV Music Awards in town...

Let me tell you, traffic has not been the best. I have seen more motorcades then are really necessary, if you ask me.

What I want to know is: with 150 world leaders and their staff in all the best hotels in Manhattan, where did all the beautiful people for the MTV awards stay? The Holiday Inn?

Labor day and whatnot

So this weekend I'm heading up to Boston to see Chay, roommate from college, who has just returned from Prague, and is now selling divorce softwae to lawyers.

This is a very good thing (not the seliing of divorce software, the visiting him is good). I haven't seen him since New Years, which was also spent with his ex (who also is my friend from highschool)... But I did see him in Prague a few month before that. So I suppose my life hasn't been completely Chay-less..

I miss having him around though. He really is one of the coolest people... We had a radio show in college for like three years... originally called "Joe and the guy with the hat" then "Excursions on a wobbly rail" then "Paranoic Critical Solitude". We had a blast. Our last tagline on our posters were "Educating the ignorant masses" Mostly we just bantered and played good music...

Hey and speaking of travel... Just got my ticket yesterday to go to San Francisco in October... visit a few friends, see the sights... should be fun.. will keep you updated smiley - smiley
