Barney, I was going to ask why you didn't get someone to carry your computer downstairs for you, then I realised that your modem connection is probably upstairs so I won't bother.

Morning Aunty,
And a beautiful morning it is too.Thankyou for your warm welcome,i shall surely make a habit of visiting you here at your site.Although i don't expect to be bringing you many problems of my own it will be nice to pull in to this warm and friendly place for tea and a chat about things in general.
Speak to you soon
Love Noname
BTW..(<- I'm learnining)i chose this name because when i tried to think of a nickname i couldn't,one simply wouldn't come to mind.Secondly i have done a reasonable amount of travelling, and thirdly i wanted a name that was unobtrusive yet interesting, mysterious rather than threatening, with hopefully enough intrigue to attract those that i want to connect with, and enough cool to keep morons away.(prevention is easier than cure i find....lol)

Ah, Noname, I was going to introduce you to H2G2's lovely Agony Aunt, but I see you've already met. Don't mind the seemingly slow responses from people today; it seems the server's been feeling a bit poorly and no one's been able to get online.
You asked about vogons.... they get a mention in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. A very entertaining read, if you've never seen it. I highly recommend it (though I will admit that I haven't read the rest of the series.)

shazzPRME Posted Apr 18, 2000
There again, you could go the whole hog and invest in the tapes/cds of the original series, which means that you also get to hear what a brilliant job peter Jones did as the voice of the Book

Why thankyou sweet pilgrim, you are truly a gracious lady.I am thinking that i should read up or listen up on the various guides available.I have vague memories of a owning a paperback way back in the days when i lived in London, but apart from that i have no real idea of the content of current issues/publications or whatever format they are available in.I will check out my local bookstore.Mind you having cruised around here for a few days now i am slowly getting the jist of it.So far i feel quite at home, although i am not too sure about Vogons and things.
None of my business i guess, but you have intrigued me Billy pilgrim....what confession?
Love

my dear noname, i am pleased to hear that you will be visiting my humble abode often . do not worry if you have no problems to bring to me, i am happy just for the lovely company of my friends as well, there is always a fresh pot of tea and some nice biscuits and cookies in the kitchen if ever you should need them .
i do find your reason for choosing your name quite good, i must admit that it is unique and fits quite well considering the circumstances you described to us .
billypilgrim, do not feel the need to wave your white flag, it is understandable how life sometimes prevents us from doing the things we love, which includes reading the wonderful writings of the great DNA . i do suggest however that you attempt to find the time to slip into the fabulous flights of fancy which await you in his other writings, he really is quite a talent that should be cherished and known
as you can see from the dear Dr. and Shazz once you allow yourself to be taken in by these stories you cannot help but to become completely lost in them, always needing more ...i do also recommend the audio tapes and films, they are a must for any true fan . what a loss it was when the wonderful voice of the book, Peter Jones, left us but at least he lives on in our memories

You are most gracious Aunty, such wonderfully warm and welcome words,i am humbled.May i bring some of my favourite teas for you to try if you have not already,i have Rooibos,Cinnamon and apple, holotropic chamomile, and many more.
I really must try and get the h2g2 books.Recently i have been reading a collection of books written over a century ago by some of the old colonists such aspatterson, stigand, pease, lyell and foran.Wonderful stuff, giving a great insight into how it was back then in Africa. It will be good for me to move forward in time a little in addition to becoming better acquainted with the local info.
Bye for now

the tea sounds wonderful, i would love to sample some of it
as for the books you are reading now, you really must tell us a bit more about the storyline as you get to it i always love to hear other peoples thoughts on what they read, see, hear and so on, curiousity is one of my faults but i always felt that it was a good one, you can never know too much

I could not agree more with you Aunty,my one real ambition in life is complete enlightenment, far more important than material gain. These books that i have been reading recently are factual, and based on the diaries of these great white hunters.Although i think that a lot of what they did was appalling they were true pioneers and very brave men.their adventures are often very exciting, particularly for someone like myself who also goes to the bush and can relate to their experiences with wildlife.Believe me when i tell you that there is absolutely no experience on earth like being in a tent with a couple of lions roaring a few metres away for example, you would honestly think that the whole world must be able to hear and feel it.However what really interests me about their writings are the insights into Africa and the minds of the (largely English )colonials in the those days. Not to mention the state of mind of the powers that were as a whole. It helps me to realise how we have arrived at where we are,and indeed how naive we all are. When i get around to writing some journals perhaps i should try and summarise my readings and thoughts.
Anyway i thought i would i would introduce you to Honey and Rooibos today.Would you like sugar...i would recommend it without milk.Anyone else for tea?
Love Noname
Dear Aunty...
Agony Aunt (Patron Saint of Busy Bodies ) Posted Apr 19, 2000
just a little sugar dear, watching my figure you know ....
yes, i think summarising your readings for your journal entries would be a great idea, allow other to see what the books you are enjoying are about and perhaps cause them to go out and purchase them for themselves .

I am quite interested in what you are actually doing atm... would you perhaps like to start off your literary endeavours by writing an article for the POST?! We are very gentle to new contributors and always welcome tales of travel and adventure Please feel free to drop over to my page and discuss this
Hi there AA... sorry to use your page as a recruitment forum, but it is best to strike while the iron is hot LOL

Good evening Aunty and Shazz,
Presuming that ATM means at this moment,i was sitting here by a nice crackling wood fire with my dog Cleo wandering around the guide, the kettle is on and i thought i would drop by and offer a cup to Aunty,I am delighted that you are here to share one too.Tea for three coming up,tonight we are having a nice calming cup of chamomile, the holotropic type,we will all sleep like babies.(and wake up screaming for our bottles in a couple of hours...lol.....only joking).Shazz,i will be very happy to come over and visit you to discuss my literary endeavours.I keep threatening to write something i know, and i really do intend doing so.I would absolutely love to think that i could write something for your POST,the truth is it makes me as nervous as all hell...i guess it is the fear of rejection having had no experience of this sort before. However,it is an ambition of mine and always has been so i have to try.Gentle is good though....I have to sleep soon , so i shall make a turn by you sometime tomorrow.Thankyou once again for the interest,i will also pop into the booknook as soon as i get a chance,i am sure i will find it very interesting and beneficial.
I hope you like the tea,i am off to bed now,but let me just throw a couple more logs on the fire for you, there you go.
see you soon
sweet dreams
Noname
Dear Aunty...
shazzPRME Posted Apr 19, 2000
The tea is delicious Noname The log fire is also most welcome... I think that you have certainly hit the spot with that!
Don't worry about spelling and syntax... I will edit it for you and drop it back for you to approve! We try not to interfere quite as much as the subbies have to when looking at guide entries, so you can run a little more rampant LOL
Do you have ICQ?? If so, please contact me... if not you can reach me through: [email protected]
The emails sometimes say that the message hasn't got through (I am between servers atm... yes it does mean at the moment LOL)... DON'T believe them! I am getting all my mail through just fine!
