....
Me seems to be addicted to doughnuts... is this a good thing or a bad thing... **
Respects,
Greebo T. Cat
** Subtle Hint: This had better be a good thing as me would not survive without them... ~grin~

My dear Greebo,
doughnuts are good things and you should not be at all worried about being addicted to them ...actually they are quite useful things as well, you can eat around them until there is nothing but a small rim left around the whole and present it to your better half as a romantic ring, you can crumble them in the woods when you are walking so that you can find your way back out again and then there is the milk thing, you cannot possibly drink milk without doughnuts so yes, it is a good thing

Hullo Agony Aunt. I saw that you're new to the neighborhood, so I thought I'd drop by with a nice houseplant and a bottle of wine. This is a nice neighborhood. I'm sure you'll be happy with your decision.

why thank-you billypilgrim i must say that is an unusual name you have there, how did you get it if you do not mind my asking
AA
Dear Aunty...
billypilgrim Posted Mar 27, 2000
The name...? Why thank you for asking. It is a character out of the Kurt Vonnegut novel "Slaughterhouse 5." You'd like it, if you like Douglas Adams. "Billy Pilgrim has come unstuck in time." It's a sci-fi-sort-of novel about a guy who has, as the above quote suggests, lost the ability to live in a linear way, and so he randomly pops in and out of various parts of his own life. I feel a bit like that myself sometimes, which is why I picked the name. Even though I'm of the female persuasion.
Dear Aunty...
GreeboTCat Posted Mar 27, 2000
ME loves that name... ~grin~... but then there are so many great names on h2g2...
Dear Aunty...
Agony Aunt (Patron Saint of Busy Bodies ) Posted Mar 27, 2000
i must try to locate that book then and have myself a read. it sounds a bit like Dr. Who to me which is another charactor that i enjoy
Greebo my dear, would you care for a doughnut? i still have some left in the kitchen, help yourself to as many as you like

Agony Aunt (Patron Saint of Busy Bodies ) Posted Mar 28, 2000
actually i was just thinking about that ...i was sitting here thinking that my new home needed something to liven it up a bit and i thought that a nice cat such as yourself would be just the thing if you are serious then consider yourself hired

Heya Greebo. Thanks for the compliment on my name. I quite like yours as well.
I see you all over H2G2, but I've never officially said hello. So, "hello." And here, I brought you a nice doughnut.
Dear Aunty...
GreeboTCat Posted Mar 28, 2000
Hello billypilgrim... ~grin~... me always smiles when me reads your name... it sounds upbeat... if you know what me means... thankyou for the doughnut... they are ALWAYS welcome in MY belly... ~Greebo rubs her plumply rounded, orange fur covered belly...~ Yummy Scrummy in my Tummy~
Aunty.. me is always a serious little puddy tat... and me would love to be your assistant... me good at helping people with problems... and if you not want me to do that... then me good at just lazing around forums and doing not a lot... ~grin~
Me works very cheaply... all me asks is a room full of virtual doughnuts a day and a large glass of cold milk, preferrably with a straw... and me as happy as a Greebo locked in Joanna's doughnut stall... ~big happy grin~
Dear Aunty...
Agony Aunt (Patron Saint of Busy Bodies ) Posted Mar 29, 2000
i am pleased to find that you are serious about being my assistant
i promise to keep the kitchen full of doughnuts, milk, glasses and fancy straws just for you
i could use help quite often and do not mind when you feel like doing nothing but lazing around the forums, maybe with your help i will be able to help more of the people who happen to stop by and visit ...

billypilgrim is quite a good name, i think it sounds like a name given to someone who is quite kind and generous, not afraid to get their hands dirty...am i right??
AA
Dear Aunty...
billypilgrim Posted Mar 29, 2000
Kind and generous...? Oh, Aunty, that IS sweet of you. I have been called that by a lucky few who know me well, and called worse by some others: I can be a bit straightforward, and some find that unnerving. And there are some in this world who still do not like a woman who speaks her mind; but that is their problem, not mine.
I think the name billypilgrim makes me feel like someone who goes out to meet the world head-on. I like that about the name. Names are powerful things.
*scratches Greebo behind the ears*
Here Greebo. Care for another doughnut? I brought you Krispy Kremes. Yummm.
Dear Aunty...
Agony Aunt (Patron Saint of Busy Bodies ) Posted Mar 29, 2000
there is nothing at all wrong with being straightforward and speaking your mind those who find it unnerving only find it so because they wish that they could be the same, never change the way you are to please others because in doing so you will only find that you are displeasing yourself which is the worst thing you could ever do.
i have always tried my best to stand up straight and tall no matter what life tosses my way and face the world head-on...never cowering in a corner or hanging my head, i have found that by doing so people tend to treat you with respect even if they do not like you. there is something about the strenght that shows through when you do this that makes life easier to handle. names are powerful things but only if the person who claims it has the ability to use the power behind it and from what i can see you do have the power
.
.
mind if i sneak a bite of one of those Krispy Kreme doughnuts? it has been ages since i have had any and i used to adore walking in when the 'hot doughnuts now' sign was on is it just me or are they really the best things ever when they are fresh and hot??

I was just drifting around the forums and thought I should drop in and say hello. I agree with what you said about being straight forward. Its the way I am too. I've had people not know what to make of me, people disagree with me, but I've never lost a friend because of it. Another way people should be is honest - tempered with tact, of course. I'm a buyer, so straightforwardness and honesty are really important in my every-day life.
Hello, Greebo--always nice to meet a cat, being a cat fancier myself, and hello billypilgrim - I agree its an interesting name. Everyone seems to be obsessed with donuts, not that its a bad idea, mind you. I happen to have the same obsession
