That Was the Meet That Was
Posted Jan 28, 2002
...my first meet.
(No, I haven't only just woken up, or only just got back. I went to a shooting competition yesterday and only had time to catch up with backlog yesterday, and not actually write a journal entry... and there was also the fact I forgot to as well. Still, here it is now.)
There is already a photo of me online... but I'm not going to tell you where it is. See if you can find it.
Erm. Of the meet itself?
Enjoyable, even if most of the time I had no idea what was going on... It was scary as well. That number of researchers all knowing exactly what they're doing while you haven't a clue is... overwhelming in the least.
Still, 'twas good!
And I'm not going to say who I met because I'm bound to forget people...

RIP Samson
Posted Jan 3, 2002
Samson.
Samson was put down this morning.
He has been getting worse for weeks now. He has not been using his back legs properly for a long time, and he has been looking generally unwell for even longer. I think it began soon after Joey died.
Last night it looked like the circulation to his back legs was going, and it was slightly worse this morning.
I think it was the best for him... I hope it was...

Samson was the lazy rat of the two. He was the biggest and definitely the fattest, no matter how much I tried to put him on a diet. A gentle giant, really. He was the one who'd sit happily on my shoulder or on my lap whilst Joey explored. He was the more sweet-natured of the two of them, and never once put his teeth round my finger. He even fell asleep on my lap once.

Gazing into the crystal Goo...

I predict that through the coming year I will be complaining about exams, revision, the education system and the government a lot.
I predict that someone may or may not reply to this journal entry until next year.
I predict that my computer will crash at least once.
I predict that several of my friends will breathe and at least one will have their hair cut.
I predict that people will make predictions for both this year and the next year, and in fact the whole future, and that some of those predictions will be blindingly obvious to most people.
I predict that my eighteenth birthday will fall upon the 25th of October in the coming year of 2002.
I predict that by the end of this year all these predictions will have either come true or not come true, or to have only come true to a certain degree, or to have some true to an uncertain degree.
Happy New Year you lot!
(And I mean it about the complaining.)

Gloom, doom, despondancy and other depressing words...

Well, my dad was made redundant again today.
This doesn't take affect for 8 weeks, the minimum amount of notice they are required to give. So he'll be out of a job after the first week of February. They appear to have learnt all they need from him about how to make the product his company were making when it went under and was bought by this one, and now don't need him...
*sigh*
And I thought life was going so well...
This time he doesn't even have the hope of another company buying the business...
Bye bye Christmas for good, I suppose. Four exams in January and now this.

Write an Entry
"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
