It's hard to find dresses these days - there just aren't all that many out there any more.

My mom tried to get me to buy "a cute short set". I told her I do NOT wear shorts, and that I prefer sarongs. "Even in the summer?" ::Sigh::
They are a lot more comfy than shorts. Mom argues that my clothes are getting a bit outdated, which is true, but... herrrrmmm.... I don't see much logic in 1) buying things I don't wear 2) buying updated clothing that will have to somehow make it over the Atlantic in 15 months....

I don't understand what's sarong with shorts.
Tell your mother you're being patriotic by wearing
dated clothes. The president and his family are notorious
for wearing clothes for an eternity, until it is
pretty threadbare. It's preppy chic!

I used to *always* wear skirts... didn't even own a pair of shorts. I agree that skirts are at least as cool and comfortable in the summer as shorts are. The problem came when I was doing something "active" that simply wasn't appropriate for wearing a skirt.
Right now, I'm looking for another new swimsuit, since it seems the strong chlorine at the pool is already destroying the one I have now... That lycra just can't take it, no matter how carefully I care for it by rinsing the chlorine out immediately after each use. It certainly hasn't helped any that the water in the pool has been excessively hot lately, either.

My bathing suits tend to fade after a few
years, but they don't wear out all that soon.
When they do split, however, it's usually
at the most embarrassing time.

What would be the least embarassing time for it to split?

When I was back in the locker room getting
dressed again. But nooooo! They always split
just *after* I jump in the pool. Not that
they do that very often, but once is enough.

Best to keep an eye on them then, and get a new one when the seams start to look weak.
