Actually, it is a load of bother. So why not not bother and find a crazy single girl. Much better, you still get bother but your in the right. And you can with confidence cutlass them all because they haven't got any rights matey. Everybody is happy .... except that chaps who I cut his head off; but who cares.

Couldn't work for a sailor? What if someone arranged to have the transferred to each port the sailor will be in, so she's there waiting for him every time he disembarks?
