Thanks! I'll give it my best shot Hope you have a good day too.
I am going to play a game of 20 questions
Are you
1. In Italy?
You can tell me to b*gger off and not be so nosy, but I'm wearing my Miss Marple hat today!

you have talked about the use of European languages, driving habits and food, and you seem to be 'awake' earlier than me, so there is a time difference. I was guessing - not France or Germany.

I honestly don't get h2g2. It seems there is a culture of bashing new people. If you ask a question or make a remark the answer is always
'Well we know better - we've been members longer than you'
and then they complain that not enough people are contributing to the guide.
How come stuff about gruesome medical conditions makes it through to the Guide ( I'm not suggesting for a minute that this stuff isn't well written ) But why can't they have a bit more of stuff for the less academically gifted ( me!)
If they don't like what I've written, that's sad. But I can't make it into a dull list like it seems they want. I was called 'scatty' Yes! that's right - I am.
thanks for reading

I know. IMO, the Edited Guide should contain entries that comply with certain writing criteria.... rather than play around with what the 'happy few' want. You've probably noticed that some entries speed through PR, others stay in the doldrums for ages and ages. Something for everybody should be a rule of thumb.
Hard not to notice all the medical stuff. If I were seriously looking for medical information on the internet I'd disregard sites that also dealt with aliens and all the rest of it. The medical entries are well-written it would seem from the quickest glance (I never read them in detail through lack of interest).
I was recently jumped upon for making what I thought was a relevant comment. One of the 'oldies' who hadn't read the article about which we were talking, who'd misunderstood my post (it seemed clear to me), jumped on me for my assumed (wrongly as it happens) position then took a rather sarky comment badly.
Of course, I was wrong for the simple reason that the person in question had been here years....
Silly.
But you dear lady have a life and experience 'off the net'.
Don't give up. Add something like "although some researchers find it perfectly acceptable, this researcher would advise against...."
Polish it to your liking and what will be, will be..... Some might like it, others not, but at least you will.
Have another rant, tell your plant/favorite cushion what asses some people can be.... then have a and think of the silliness of it all.
Maybe your next entry should be "the hazards of writing an entry for the Edited Guide"
*ruffles your hair and puts your hat back on for you* Go on, L-baby, go for it

or.... spare your plant/cushion and come and let off steam on the 'good old-fashioned insults' thread http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/brunel/F19585?thread=6698305&skip=0&show=20 but DON'T say who you're thinking about as you post

Thanks honey! I shouldn't let it get to me. But I can't see this place ever getting better if the big kids won't share the swings with new people in the playground.
Anyway it seems that the one that called me scatty is on pre-moderation ( although the 'gang' insist its a bug)

haha I feel better now. Thanks for the tip. I have to help with lunch now - chat later. And hope your scar is healing nicely
3. So is this champagne, cava or prosecco?

Not-so-bald-eagle Posted Jul 5, 2009
3. In real life, it's more often than not fizzy water. Although I prefer good prosecco to most champagnes.
I noticed your new name..... the hat suited you! What about 'scatty hat'?
Hope lunch is good

Answer to 3 - good. champagne is overrated (unless it costs more than I can afford)
I'll go back to hat wearing when I feel I've made my point about my piece being called scatty.

Come look at your 'beach' thread.... Now you've got some nourishment inside you, you might feel like taking up the gauntlet and putting that (extremely attractive) hat back on
