The Ironman contest starts just yards from my house - with the beach swim - 2.4 miles- then they all jump onto their bikes, which are laid out in the road here overnight ( behind security grilles) After the road race of 112 miles then they do a full marathon of 26.2 miles.

It's almost worth living here for the site of so many fit men in one place each year!

I know someone who won the Ironman Triathlon in Lake Placid a few years ago. The thing about that kind of competition is that huge muscles are detrimental to your chances of winning, as they mean extra weight to carry on the long marathon.

That's very true Paul - these chaps are perfectly toned! not muscle bound in the slightest.

I don't yet own a wardrobe. Should I?

Yes. The weather is wonderful. Yet, I need to explain that. If mud likes wetness then the weather is really good. The star, we call the Sun, is not trying hard at the moment. The moon is warmer.

Hmmmm - well the sun's got a week to pull its socks up, put on its hat and get outside!
