smiley - laugh I didn't know THAT. The reason 'Jingle Bells' is a Thanksgiving song has a lot to do with the weather in the northeast US.

Like this week! It's been snowing since yesterday. It's not supposed to quit until tomorrow afternoon.

Two hours' drive from here, on Lake Erie? The snow is as high as you and I are tall. smiley - rofl

Here, it's just nice for the kids to play in. And nobody's going much of anywhere.

And this is what I see out my window.

Cos it is on the beeb teletext pages, I can't copy etc smiley - sadfaceto put here smiley - grr

smiley - laugh Yep. See, back in the days before cars, people up here switched to sleighs when the snow got deep.

And they'd take their girlfriends out joyriding. Since it was cold, there was snuggling going on... smiley - whistle

And they'd race, too.

smiley - laugh True. Which is why it feels rushed that I just ordered my Christmas presents after Thanksgiving. But I don't like to hurry the season.

Particularly because we used to have a lot of time preparing music for the season - school, church...but now most of the kids are grown, and the church people stopped doing it during the Covid mess.

My sister called the other day. She's sending me a box of music. (She's a second-hand book dealer.) Stuff that's good, but she can't sell it because it's a little too frayed, etc.

I didn't think anything of it. And then I got her email today - she mailed the box...

'It weighs 55 lbs,' she warned. 'Don't try to pick it up. Open it and take it inside in pieces.'
