Hang on a minute pal!!!
In my first six weeks basic parade training, I used more brasso, more Ajax, more boot polish and more floor polish than I did in the following 12 years of service.
I also did more bumpering (After Swinderby, we used electrical floor polishers)than I care to remember...
Uniform brasses were replaced with anodised buttons and badges...
Sweeping up?? Yes! four times daily!!
Getting back to the barrack room after taking a shower was like walking through a f*****g minefield!!!!
"Oy, W!! Just polished that!!!!"
Ironies of irony. After passing out parade, back to barracks...
In walks the sergeant, carrying dustbin.
Tips up dustbin, he says, "Final order. Spread this lot around. We got some newcomers coming in tomorrow!!!"

I have had that done to me!! Right into a puddle, ruining beret for parade purposes...
He had a busted nose, blood on uniform tunic.....
Both on a charge for unacceptable uniform on parade...
Both got wrists slapped, only he got it harder cos we were supposed to look after each other, not try to drop our comrades in the sh*t!!!
