The motto 'By Land, By Sea, By Air' can certainly stay on the banner - pleanty of room there. Would you like 'Researcher' on the badge or 'Member'? Other clubs have used 'Member.'
Talking of the motto, may I have a decision about capital letters, please? Is it 'By Land, By Sea, By Air' or 'By land, by sea, by air' or something in between?

Hi Amy
I like the capital letters By Land, By Sea, By Air.
I'm easy on whether it's Member or Researcher. Or what about Traveller?

Personally, I prefer 'researcher', since one of the inspirations for the Soc. was the idea that we *are* supposed to be researchers, going out and researching places and areas. I think Six explained it well in teh opening paragraph to the soc. page.

Vote for researcher. Being a researcher is active, and implies writing for the EG. Member is passive.

Well, assuming Frenchbean to be undecided, I make that 3 and a half votes for 'Researcher' and 1 and a half for 'Member'... any more for any more?

Mind you, if it's not too much trouble for Amy, I suppose we could have both for different levels of activity... say, you get the 'Member' badge when you sign up and then you can upgrade yourself to 'Researcher' once you've had an entry accepted into the Edited Guide.
How about that?

You'll have to run that past Jimster when he's back in the office next week.

Amy!
This design looks particularly good on the banner
And the By land, sea & air bit works very well in that format too I think. Badge also works well and one word is a better choice for the bottom bit there and "Researcher" is as good as any (I briefly wondered about "Traveller" or somesuch but I'm not that fussed.)

I'll work on the banner during this week with a view to finishing it in time for Jimster's return. Keep an eye on http://www.amytheant.co.uk/community/geogsociety/index.htm and you'll see it develop bit by bit. The badge(s) can be finished in 5 seconds once the necessary decisions have been made.
Jimster already has a few new banners and badges in his possession, so hopefully we can squeeze this set in with those when they're transferred to the live server.
When that has happened, I'll pop back here to tell you the filename (no more blob numbers!) and give assistance with the new GuideML code if required.

I've just realised - we're still more or less where we were quite a long time ago... as you've got the artwork ready to go, would it be possible for the Italics to get it uploaded or whatever needs to happen?

Hello! I'm back after nipping out for a pint of milk during the fracas caused by that idiot Wolfden, and stayed away for a couple of months...
