It's not actually written yet, but it will be based round the 'What's New?' page at A516052 (click the banner ad). Comments on that would be *most* welcome - post 'em here.

One thing that would be great, and maybe being writen is a FAQ sheet, like why are links OK in entries but not in posts?, why no external images?, what is bandwidth? What exactly are the difference s between old and new T&Cs and why they are there. Whos are the "moderators" (are they people or software agents) etc.

They are real people - usually logged in under real names on the Who's Online drop down list.
An unsociable lot, they haven't responded to my cherry "good morning moderator's" post
It looks like Andrew has drawn the graveyard shift.

Hope they get lots of free coffee to help them do the moderating... and considering the backlog of stuff to check through, I think they probably haven't even noticed your posts since they're probably too busy trawling through the site looking for Researchers up to no good.

I wonder if the PTB have been bright enough to roster Aussies and Kiwis, based in Pomland, on to do the moderating during the times when we are the (in the main) only ones logged on.
ANZACs would understand the vernacular.

Working on a FAQ sheet for moderation as we speak. Watch this space.
BTW, the Mods are asked not to get involved in Conversations on site, in case they get into flame wars with the Community. It happens...
Doesn't stop them coming in as other personas, though.

Uck. Flame wars are bad. I seem to recall one on the subject of Abortion at some point...
Hopefully we won't be getting too many of those when the site reopens.

MaW Posted Mar 6, 2001
In a good debate you're supposed to respect other people's views. In a good flame war you rubbish and insult them at every possible opportunity. Unfortunately, whether you're insulting people or not tends to be largely a matter of opinion, which is even more of a problem on a text-based medium like h2g2, which is often why they start in the first place. So we just have to be careful...

Actually you don't have to so much respect the other views as respect the rights of other individuals to hold opposing views.

Tis spring and 'nony wakes from a 3 month hibernation with (as ususal) the flurry of reactivated (and previously thought of as long dead) threads

PS- 'nony, see you mentioned Mozilla in one of your journals - this weeks build is the 1st to show the "To see further entries bu..." page in the correct font

C Hawke Posted Apr 21, 2002

"To see further entries bu..."
Now that we can put URLs in Posts, care to try that novel concept out?
Mark, Maybe a good idea
C Hawke Posted Apr 24, 2002
No specific URL - the page everyone has to see further posts off their home page. (OK it says "To see further conversations.
My description elsewhere must have been good enough for Jim as he fixed it
Not sure what I meant by the "bu" though
