I don't know but aren't we waiting for an explanation from the Russian genus sardinops?

I am back for a short while.
No correct answers so far.
He sells by the Kilo, so we are only interested in Kilos.
Obviously he must do the weighing in one go, otherwise he would be able to do it X number of times with a 1Kilo weight.

Not so much a clue but an explanation as to why previous 'solutions' are wrong.

As to the generic name for sardines - I thought we'd been through this one before and it was meant for the other posters.

Sorry

6 weights of 1 kilo, 2 off 2 kilos, 6 kilos, 12 kilos and 24 kilos?

When you know the answer, you will see that it WAS a clue.

Please note the spelling of czardene. It is not the same as Sardine.
In the same way as a muscle in your arm does not live on the seashore.(Mussel)

There are lots of words in the English language which sound the same but have different spelling and/or meaning.
However this thread is not for this type of conversation. Matter closed.

Think. If you only had weights of 1 Kilo and 2 Kilos you could only weigh 1,2 or 3 Kilos. But if you had a 1 and a 3 Kilo weight you could weigh 1,2,3,4,5or 6 Kilos.
Does this help?

"But if you had a 1 and a 3 Kilo weight you could weigh 1,2,3,4,5or 6 Kilos"
To wiegh 2, you need the potatoes.
So you are back to a one kilo weight and oodles of time.

smiley - sorry I made a mistake You could only weigh up to 4 Kilos. However with the different weights you can weigh more, without increasing the number of weights required.

I'll leave someone else to sort out the logic of that. I am in enough trouble as I am.
