Nice entry. To the point with links to other related matters - just how I like it.

There are a few niggly grammar errors, but I think the sub-eds pick those up?

smiley - ok

Oh, just had a thought: any chance of a bit of info about what became of his wife and children?

Cheers guys. You're right about the wife and kiddies bit, wasn't sure whether to omit that from the original as I don't really know much about that either. Think it's best left unsaid! Will fix it up smiley - ta

Ivan the Terribly Average

I've just found a footnote in Robert K Massie's 'Nicholas & Alexandra' which indicates that at least one of Rasputin's children survived the revolution. Maria Rasputin's book, 'Rasputin, My Father' was published by Cassell in 1934.

*thinks - that would be quite a read*

I expect the British Library would have this book somewhere, if someone's super-keen enough to go and look. (It's a bit far for me.)

But then again, the entry works without dwelling on the fate of Rasptin's children. Nice work.

I didn't mean dwell on them... even a footnote would do, but I've often wondered (and been far to idle to check up on it) what happened to them.

I should have added a smiley - winkeye or two to my last post. Sorry - there's a bit of tension between me and Windows at the moment.

Also - in the third sentence - 'mythical healing powers'. Should that be 'mystical'?

Ah... Windows tension... say no moe smiley - hug

And now I can't remember... did we have a mention in the entry about the apparent power of Rasputin's eyes/gaze/charisma? Because I think that was a very important part the whole mystery. He was, apparently, a dirty, smelly scruffy individual. And yet he had these high-class women like the Tsarina and her friends swooning over him (and, apparently, not because of the smell)

I didn't see a footnote about his family, but I love the Boney M lyrics at the end.
