I can be a stubborn old cuss at times (refuse to use WalMart, Starbucks, Amazon, Facebook, WhatsApp, PayPal etc), but I wouldn't go that far.

Any road up. We have hot water! When I say "hot" I mean warm. They've installed "a temporary boiler" which I walked past today on the way to the shops. It's a trailer, about the size of a box truck, with hoses snaking into the room where the water heat sits. As far as I can tell there is only one electrical connection, a household extension cable sort of thing, but I can't imagine that can be what's powering its heating capacity, not for a complex of several hundred apartments.

Either way, I had a shower this morning, and maybe the water will get a little hotter as it works its way around the complex. The email asked us to run our hot water taps for 15 minutes to get the hot water to all the buildings but that seems rather wasteful.

Update.

Apparently the temporary hot water heater has failed. No hot water this morning. Still no ETA for a new permanent heater.

I Haven't been keeping up with developments here. The new water heater was finally installed last month and at times the water has been proper hot. During the freeze last week there was a burst pipe in my building, I suspect in my dopey neighbour's apartment, so the water was off for a couple of hours while that was fixed. This morning I got an email saying the water will be off from 10am to 5pm today for more "necessary repairs"

The water went off at noon.
