The first forecast scorchio of the season is in - predicted on Wednesday July 9th for Tuesday July 15th.

I wouldn't be surprised if it happens before then, though - 98 is forecast for Saturday and Sunday, and 99 for Monday.

They've taken all the scorchios out of the forecast, but we might actually make it today. We're 5°F hotter (92) than this time (1.30pm) yesterday (87), and yesterday's maximum was 95.

Just had a cracking little thunder storm over South London, it had been decently sunny all day (we don't do Scorchio over here as Gosho well knows), and then we had 15 minutes of lights music and chucking it down so it is now cool and fresh, just in time to wander off to the pub.

"We don't do scorchio over here".... yet.

In 20 years or so, when you do, maybe... just maybe, the Republican party will finally admit global warming is actually happening. Oh, they'll still deny that it's caused by human use of fossil fuels, but we'll take that small step as progress.

There's been at least one scorchio in the UK that I know of - Faversham I think, a few years ago?

Any road up, we didn't make it to scorchio here today, only (only ) 98F/36.7C. And since today is July 12th, that makes this a lower than average year by at least one day because we haven't haven't had a 100° temperature yet

I was sat under Tower Bridge having a in the shade a couple of hours ago, with a nice breeze along the Thames.

We have achieved scorchio. I repeat, we have achieved scorchio. Normal summer has been resumed.

Hardly any difference, and yet this morning there are no sweaty fingers or... anything, really, and I don't feel an urge to shut all the doors and switch on the a/c. In fact it's really quite pleasant

The report for yesterday says calm, and for this morning variable 6mph, so that could be it, although there's no more of a breeze coming through the apt this morning than there was yesterday, and the trees are every bit as motionless.

Then it must be voodoo.

The a/c's still off, btw. It'd been on for an hour by this time yesterday. And the forecast for today is another scorchio before temperatures drop a few degrees and we get a small chance of rain. Then scorchio and scorchio+ for next weekend.

Scorchio plus one today.

We only barely pushed into the 90s today, but bloody hell it's humid. And the rain that was on the radar this morning fizzled out before it got to Austin

Not bad for July in Austin

It's been a nice rainy day hear at work. I wonder if we got any rain 10 miles away at home. We've had very little rain while surrounding areas have had plenty.

There was plenty on the radar this morning, all the way from San Antonio to Oklahoma City, but we didn't see any. However, we now have a 60% chance for storms tonight and 50% for tomorrow - something which was conspicuously absent from the forecast a few days ago.

I forgot to add, too, that I baked a loaf this morning so the oven was on for about an hour. Still didn't need the a/c

I really need to get (or make) a bead curtain for the front door. Too many damn flies in here
