It does, doesn't it? Probably a bit outside my price range though I'd imagine.

My guess - you tie the string around the relevant digit.

I hope you all scrolled down that page far enough to see
the Hill Billy Calculator. With toes instead of finger-holes.

When I was a kid, there was a brief wave of interest in a finger counting and calculating method with some bizarre name like "Mummenschanz" or something like that*. I remember it worked by placing your hands on your desk or on your legs or any surface. I believe each hand could count to ten. For instance, 7 would be represented with your thumb, ring and pinky pressed down. There were supposedly methods for doing addition, subtraction and multiplication, maybe more.
There were workshops being held around the country (US) but I only saw it demonstrated on TV.
Basically it was a hand abacus.
*I really can't remember the name of it. Can anyone else?

It's beautiful, thanks from the icon repair...although, now I'll have to change my desktop theme, to highlight it's beauteousness.
Has our Madame President seen the entry for no. 6 pn that page. HB's are very practical people, you know.

*comes in a few months late and says*
Now that the favicon has _finally_ been fixed, how about a nice icon for iOS?
I was just given a shiny new iPad and - seeing how there _still_ isn't an app* - one of the first things I did was of course to add a bookmark to hootoo to the home screen (desk top). It works fine, but it doesn't exactly _look_ fine - a screenshot of the page pressed into a tiny square.
I guess Pastey knows the solution, it took me only a moment to google it, so now I ask: Can we also have an Apple Touch Icon, please?
Until an artist comes up with something better, here's my suggestion, ready to upload to the root, next to the favicon: http://lieberkind.ch/h2g2/apple-touch-icon-precomposed.png
* Talking about apps, this is a terrible ad.
Nothing about what it is advertising for, sitting just where you might expect a link to a hootoo app (also on the front page), and having almost the same colours as pliny: http://lieberkind.ch/h2g2/appad.jpg
(linked to some script redirecting to a hotels.com app, I think it was.)
