h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I had to buy a new tool kit today to fix my bike. Appears that when I came off the other week I broke three spokes. And somewhere along the line I'd lost my chain whip (steady on there ) So, my rear wheel is straighter now, not completely straight, but usable.

T'other half and I are currently going through the print layout drafts for the book: Endangered Creatures. We're still on track for a mid to late October release, and seeing it laid out for print, and doing stuff like costing up how much to sell it for, etc, is making it very real

I'm away for four days and there's only seven new posts?

Went to see sister and family. Played a lot of Worms against my nephews.

The hearing for my state-level welfare happened. And it'll be *possibly* within another 30 days before I learn the actual results.

I've just watched/listened to Darkside - a radio by Tom Stoppard using the Darkside of the Moon. Utterly fantastic.

I just realised, I haven't posted here for two weeks. Bad me.

Today was a good day, I had a one day assignment, after having not a single one since mid april. It was fun, people were nice, they seemed very happy with my job. Perhaps I even get more work there.

I've just re-read my previous post, gods, I missed out so many words.

It's all this Skyping, I tells ya. I wouldn't mind, but I even previewed it

Assuming you are male, why the roundabout way via the bucket? For a lady, I can understand though.

There are walls to the chicken coop! No wire over the ventilation areas yet, though. Nor doors, for that matter. But there are walls! And a lot fewer spider webs. I already killed half a dozen black widows *shudder*

Perhaps it is just easier to fill up the bucket and make only 1 trip to the sink, rather than keep going backwards and forwards to and from the sink all the time...?

To be honest, I think we're all suffering from Thread Exhaustion. I keep meaning to scribe but I'm trying to solve some programming projects. Solve bugs that arise from ignorance or carelessness. Are there other causes for bugs? It doesn't help that my sitting-up time, when I can type with 2 hands, is so limited.

KM, good luck with the hearing results. Getting disability is just like this: head-desk, head-desk, head-desk...

Our gas is still turned off. Still no warm water at home. And we still have to wait until Wednesday or Thursday until it is fixed because the plumber had to order some parts which will not arrive earlier.
Sometimes I feel like everything is getting too much for me this year.

(For those who don't know: a hole was detected in our gas tubes. The people who lived in the apartment before us knew about it but didn't tell us or the owner about it and company where we get the gas also knew but didn't tell us when we made the contract. We got a letter from them 2 weeks ago, asking if it is fixed...)

It will get better. But I do understand your feeling, you've had more than you share of cr*p. I hope it passes quickly!

I think a fair point has been raised here, when your toilet is out of action, whether to go straight into the sink, or into a bucket first?

I'm guessing into a bucket first might be a bit cleaner, but that's purely a guess. But directly into the sink would mean that you could turn the tap on at the same time.

And I really hope we're just talking about number ones here
