The internet is a part of modern life and, as such, it is of course represented in fiction. Sometimes, characters in a book, film, television and so on will mention a URL for a plot-relevant website, or even just a throwaway remark, and I am sure I am not the only one who has occasionally looked them up on the real internet (to the extent that there is such a thing).
Usually, they turn out to be little more than an advertisement for the work in which they appear, bought by the studio, publisher or whatever and emblazoned with a hastily put together bit of branded artwork. As an example, I do wonder what - if anything - would happen if I were to enter my email into this bit of neat branding for the (excellent) graphic novel series 'The Wicked + The Divine' (which I highly recommend, but that's another story...): https://tinyletter.com/dionysiankissstory .
Sometimes, they don't exist at all, a recklessly unclaimed domain name or one that has been claimed but left vacant. However, some have clearly had more effort put into them.
So, what gems have you spotted?

You must not have been reading Trollope's science fiction, then.

'The Fixed Period', set in 1980.

Frank Schätzing (of The Swarm fame) wrote a science fiction thriller called LIMIT in which various websites with specific URLs play a major plot-relevant role. When I read the book a few years after publication, all URLs yielded no results whatsoever.

Sounds good! I've just placed a request on the first copy that becomes available in my library network.
