Dark Star? Love it!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Star_(film)
Jar Jar is so awful that I can't help feeling a little fondness for him. Same with Quasimodo, the Elephant Man, King Kong, and other creatures who never caught any breaks in their sad lives. The ones who were real were bad enough, but why create such a sad creature in fiction?

Well, considering that the clone wars resulted in the near extinction of the Jedi Knights, excepting 0 Bee 1 Kn 0 Bee*, Master Yoda and a couple of individuals of Sith derivation, it seems to me there are reasonable grounds to wonder about that, not that there's any turning back the clock.
Then, there's the question on 0 Bee 1 Kn 0 Bee's alphanumeric designation, designations of the type usually being reserved for droids.
*I initially tried writing 0 Bee 1 Kn 0 Bee's designation in alphanumeric form only to find it blocked from posting on the principle that some readers might find that offensive.
Try it and see.

They're right! " 0B1 Kn 0B " (without spaces) is blocked. Why the hell is it blocked?
...
Anyway, for the record, that's not how it's supposed to be spelled. It's supposed to go "Obi-Wan Kenobi."
Hence, he... isn't... treated like a droid.

Expendable labor to be bought, sold, and given away by the heroes and villains alike... In great, vast armies built explicitly to die at some corporate CEO's passing whim...
And still, the Empire is condemned by the Rebellion for making slaves out of organic beings, but making slaves out of droids is apparently just fine with them. Hypocrites.

Star Wars is a pretty bleak and depressing universe when you look just a little below the surface.

...R2D2's and C3P0's alphanumeric designations are also spelled, Artoo Deetoo and Cee Threepio...

Yep... takes you to the Categories page. Something similar happens to conversations about F1 racing.
As for the filther, that that particular word is restricted is dumber than a box of doorknobs.

Is it an actual word that actually means something? It just looks like a jumble of letters and numbers to me.
"...R2D2's and C3P0's alphanumeric designations are also spelled, Artoo Deetoo and Cee Threepio..."
Well, yes, that's true, but the difference is that their "proper" names are R2-D2 and C-3P0. But Obi-Wan's proper name has always been Obi-Wan, never 0-B1. It's just a coincidence.

Admittedly I've never thought deeply about droids.
When I looked up definitions, I found at least three.
1. a robot
2. A person who is dull
3. A person in a wheelchair.
I have trouble believing that 1. would be a biological entity with the rights that other biological entities have. Can a chair vote and get a driver's license? How about a washing machine? Can two lamps get a marriage license even in a state that allows gay marriage?
2. depends on whether you think that a dull, lifeless person is annoying or culpable enough to deserve a lifetime of servitude. I doubt that that could ever be the case, but then I'm amazingly unperceptive at times. I remember a Beach Boys song whose lyrics [I thought} were "Bob Durant."
3. I can't think of a situation in which a person in a wheelchair would be in demand, assuming that slavery were legal in his/her jurisdiction. If there wouldn't be any takers anyway, I think the point would deserve to be moot.
I should really get a life.
