A Conversation for Ask h2g2
Sympathise button

So Facebook have developed a "sympathise" button, so you will no longer have the dilemma of whether or not to press "Like" when someone posts bad news.

Except that having developed something useful for a change, they've decided now isn't the right time to launch it.
So, while they're agonising over these things, can I ask the h2g2 community what would be a good icon for this button. Clearly the "thumbs-up" wouldn't do.

For consoling people after some loved one has died, the is oftene used here. A lily would be a good alternative, but we don't have that image yet.

I have to admit I don't particularly like the self absorbed culture that the like, and inevitably the sympathise button creates. Life isn't a competition to get the whole universe to believe you're everything that matters.
Also, have they really developed this button? Or is it another one of these Amazon drone stories, where they've not developed it more than a quick test of an idea before rushing it out to get into what passes as news these days.
I mean, I've "developed" a semi-self-aware multi-tier relevancy search system to the Guide. I've just not deployed it yet. I don't think it's the right time.

That's a good point. We've developed nuclear weapons here in the UK, but it's not really the right time to launch them.

Another piece of evidence of Government wastage. All those incredibly expensive weapons unused and probably rotting away. Use them now. Their must be someone we don't like out there. They are all foreign after all.

"There" not "their". Even whimsy should be correctly splet.

On thoughts of 'development'
was it a large team they used to develop this button? Must have been a gargantuan project. how did they manage it?
