First female MP, of course, was Constance Markievicz.

Thanks.smiley - smiley Trying to make things better is a Herculean task. On the one hand, I hear some of the old fogeys griping about slipping standards because of affirmative action, but on the other hand it's refreshing to walk into offices and see that not all of the faces are white. It's nice to go to a movie and see African-American and/or Asian actors/actresses mixed in with the white ones. Some substantive changes have been made, and life is more interesting as a result.

Well if you're disproportionately recruiting from only part of the population, how the hell can you be getting the best talent?

The best talent doesn't wait to be recruited.
The way to go is onward and upward otherwise you believe that the system is dragging you down when in fact you are being overtaken . smiley - biggrin

Silly me. African-Americans haven't been succeeding because they've not been go-getting enough. I feel foolish for not having realised sooner.

How where and when do you measure the African Americans success ?
Where they exploit their talent they certainly get going. smiley - smiley

Africans don't do too badly out of the Premier League. In fact it could be described as a football revolution.

Divide and conquer. How organised are the peoples of the UK? Apparently we live in a mass society rather than a civil society. A mass society is better for market economics as it allows greater profit to be obtained through market segregation.

Google is like Audrey in "Little Shop of Horrors." When it's small, it's kind of cute, though not very cooperative. As it gets bigger, the cuteness goes away and Audrey begins to make demands. smiley - monster

Meanwhile, many of Google's earlier competitors have expired or been bought out.

Ahem, I think you might be referring to Audrey 2 (Da Doo), named by Seymour in honour of the original Audrey who was a nice but rather dim blonde with limited aspirations.
