Talking Point: Spring Cleaning

I polished the front room floor yesterday. It looks great especially the bit under the piano that was looking a little faded. I'm riduculously proud of myself.
The pine needle problem I encountered suggests this was a job long overdue.
I'm not really big on housework. I visited my super efficient sister inlaw and viewed her spring cleaning list...clean bathroom ceiling..replace doormat....hmmm I thought there is nothing there I want to take away.

I'm still hoping the ceiling in the utility room will finally collapse and fall down... it'll save me having to clean the room... the builders can then take care of it
*pokes ceiling*
Can't be long now...
Cleaned my bedroom floor yesterday, as useual on a Sunday, two hours later, I'd showered... and it was back carpeted with hair
At the moment here, its more like spring repairing.... putting the handle back on the drawer in the kitchen might be an idea for a start... I could get the food processor back out again if I do that Moving may be the only option... just try make sure I buy a new place that is really* clean
I've never managed to get anywhere with cleaning the top of my kitchen cupboards, it seems like the previous owner just used it as a storage area for lard and bottles of oil... and once its this* soaked into the wood, and has been sitting there several inches deep, all I've been able to do is scrape off the worse of it, and make a few failed attempts at removing the rest with various cleaning agents, which only ever has the affect of making my lungs feel funny and causing my eyes to water
I've adopted a new radical process to cleaning outside my front door though. I just sweep it in front of the Chinese resturant, every time they've just swept it all in front of my door... seems to be working so far...

My 'to do' list permanently says 'sort & clean everywhere'. Occasionally I find time to blitz a cupboard or set of drawers but the cleaning is usually the same superficial whisk round each week.
Spring doesn't encourage me to greater efforts indoors, although I'm more likely to fit extra chores in as the daylight lengthens. As soon as it's warm enough, I'll be out gardening. I have put away my warmest Winter boots & bought a new sun hat.
I find Autumn more of an incentive to clean as it gets too cold or wet to be outdoors but the sun being lower shows up all the dusty corners.

I managed to clean the black hole behind the washer today. Found a knife (!). I don't think I'm gonna start with other appliances...washing the windows'll do.
