h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Um. can't think of what they are called right now, but you know the little symbol on the left of the browsing tab or bookmark/favourite?

Well anyway all the old ones are there, but for the past few weeks if I add a new favourite I just get the generic grey-world symbol (using Chrome). For example, when h2g2 was in it's transition website I got the hoootoo symbol, but when the new site launched and I bookmarked it, I couldn't get the icon thing to show

Anyway, anybody know what I'm taking about and if so what setting have I monkeyed with that stops the icon thing working ?

Yup, that's the fellow Should this website have one? The transition h2g2-"wsogmm.h2g2.com" shows one in my favourites bar(the h2g2 logo), but the current h2g2 does not Neither do any other sites I've added in the past few weeks. It doesn't appear to be computer specific either as the same thing is happening on my laptop and pc. Wondering if it is a chrome setting then, because I've got all my chrome info synced across different computers.

I think it might be worth posting to feedback about it. I can't see an icon in firefox either, so it's not just chrome.

I'm using Opera. The new icon is showing in the Bookmarks for that (it's the circular logo next to the name h2g2) so yes, it sounds like it's a Chrome thing.

...and a Firefox thing, apparently.

Just tried it in opera and safari, and I can't see an icon in them either.

Ah, interesting, so perhaps it's a hootoo bug and it's just a co-incidence that other sites I've added since don't have icons. Cool thanks; will post it as a bug report

It's working in Opera 11.52, I just added some pages to test it.

I'm still on 11.51 - I'll get 11.52 now.

The hootoo favicon displays OK in Safari v. 5.1.1 under OS X

Firefox v. 7 here, using the Charamel theme, and it doesn't seem to display favicons at any site

Viewing Tools > Page Info on any hootoo page indicates the favicon is present at -- http://h2g2.com/f/favicon.ico but it refuses to display in the location bar
