I day-dream about living in The Culture all the time, hedonists heaven.

The only fiction I'd care to live in would be either the Culture (although be careful not to be too near the Affront or the Idarans), or Arthur Ransome's Lakes or Broads. My own preference there would be the Pigeon Post summer.

But then there's Narnia, in the peaceful times between the books, or the Shire when Samwise is mayor after that trouble with the Ring.

One of the His Dark Materials books would be good, yes - I want a daemon too! Or "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" from the Narnia series - though I'd probably get very bored with life on ship between the adventures!

I'd love to live somewhere in the Poldark series by Winston Graham. Must be a past life thing.

(18th Century Cornwall. Mines, smuggling, family crises, lost love, found love ... great characters and plot, well written).
