How do I make baked beans?

No really - not the open a tin kind. I have beans that have soaked overnight and tomato puree...any thoughts on the method (for my madness)?

I assume you have cannelini beans, yes? They should only take 5 minutes to cook if soaked, but check the packet instructions.
OK. Chop and onion finely, fry it until soft but not browned. Add a clove of garlic and a teaspoon of paprika. Stir-fry rapidly for a minute. Add a pint of vegetable stock and about half a tube of your tomato puree (I would use tomato passata for preference). Add a squeeze of ketchup, a dash of worcester sauce, salt and pepper and stir thoroughly. Allow to simmer for 10 minutes.
Strain thoroughly through a sieve, return to the pan. Add the beans, bring to the boil and simmer for about 5 minutes.
No baking required!
