Campaign for a Pre-Rupertite-Badge
Yelbakk Started conversation Apr 19, 2005
Okay, read it again, it says badge, not badger! Inspired by this convo, http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/F19585?thread=627390&skip=20&show=20, where people were were discussing what it takes be considered a veteran member of hootoo, the thought came up that if you remember Rupert, you defenitely belong to the more seasoned researchers. To stand out as such, we veterans, we Pre-Rupertites demand a badge of our own! Y.

I stood before a bloke called Rupert before, does that qualify me for a badger?

Are you trying to say I'm old? Eeh back in my day young whipper snappers like yourself used to treat the village elders (anyone a five digit or less U number) with respect
No we don't need a badge. Who needs to be reminded that in site terms they are ancient?

I bow before you in awe and respect, most venerable Elder. I shall therefore assume a vernacular more pleasing to thine wise wizened ears. Verily, I say unto thee, a badge goes not to shew that our kin be olde. I must needs hasten to append this opinion: Nay, quoth I, the Badge will sure inspire great love into the feeble minds of younger folk.
Give us today duely our Badge!
Y.

I really don't want to be reminded about The Interregnum, so I won't campaign for a badge. I had one of my Edited Entries on the Front Page the day the site went down. It was put on the Front Page at about 10am; they pulled the plug on h2g2 at about 11.

I'm not really here Posted Apr 20, 2005
erm no. I was around at the time, and although good came out of it in the end (I ended up working for the site) I don't really think that finding the site by happy accident a few years ago is worth a badge. It wasn't much of an acheivment really.

Dammit, if I was a pre-Rupertite I'd be able to utter that immortal line from Treasure of the Sierra Madre...
Sod it, I'll do it anyway.

I hardly found this place by ACCIDENT. I found it because I was a fan of DNA's and was looking forward to the launch of Starship Titanic and had registered as such.
I don't believe we are wanting the badge to celebrate "Rupert"... Just to acknowledge that some of us remember what it was like BEFORE then!
Another thing to note is that there are fewer of us all the time. And your sour attitude doesn't sound nice. Have a loo brush, a and try to have some fun, Mina.

OK, so why doesn't someone just make a badge? You don't need to campaign for it.
