I opened the front door one Saturday afternoon and there was a group of shamrock and guinness festooned comedians, complete with bedecked vehicle, balloons what have you. They had come to deliver a whole party's worth of ready chilled cans of with matching glasses and other related goodies. Apparently bf at the time had said entered a competition and said there would be half a dozen people all watching the rugby final at my house and we all liked
The promoters all wanted to come in and start the party - but left me with all the booze, eventually.
Another strange win was a flight ticket voucher, which my first husband used to take himself off the another continent Yay! That was good

Things have turned up for me when I have most needed them as well. Before Andrew (now 16) was born, I was raising 3 kids on Income Support, and supplemented my income selling Avon, as I was allowed to earn up to £15 a week without penalty. One month I got a huge phone bill (this was pre-Internet days) and I was desperate. I had a large collection of Wedgwood pottery, which I was willing to sell to pay the phone bill (my lifeline). I put a free ad in my local paper, just under the cut-off asking price so I didn't have to pay for the ad. Later, the phone rang, and a woman whose voice I slightly recognised asked what pieces of Wedgwood I had. I told her then she asked where I lived and could I bring them round to her as she was in a wheelchair. Then I realised who she was, one of my Avon customers who lived round the corner. She not only bought all my Wedgwood pottery but also gave me an extra job finishing off a cardigan she had started knitting, which she couldn't finish due to poor eyesight and arthritic fingers, and paid me generously for that too,
