Well, I would say both Rammstein and Tony Bennett have strong solid melody lines their work, clear distinct instrument sounds and you can hear the vocals (and understand both it you can speak German).smiley - biggrin

Still do not see why Dr Who and HHGTTG are so different. Seems a new poll is in order. Hint Hint.

Rammstein is probably a bad example here, their music appeals to a wide variety of people.

You forget Shada (which was never televised) and City of Death (which was almost entirely re-written by DNA so it may as well have been his script).

I like Dr. Who.
I like HHGTTG.
Am I normal?

Seriously though, why is it so difficult to believe that a Hiker cannot also be a Whovian? It's like saying you're not allowed to like bacon if your favourite meal is steak. Illogical, captain.

Almost forgot, a lot of the stuff that ended up in HHGTTG actually started life as script proposals for Dr. Who.

So there.

But there are people here on h2g2 who are Dr Who fans but are not hhgttg fans.

Not everyone who likes steak likes bacon, to steal a comparisson.

Carring on the culinary comparisons.

You forget also "The Pirate Planet", second of the Key to Time season, script by Douglas Adams, DVD only available on Region 1 but worth getting hold of.

DNA's contribution to the actual scripts of Dr. Who is recognised as totalling three: Pirate Planet, City of Death and Shada, in that order. As script editor he would have been responsible for the general "feel" of the series as much as anyone else was. Interestingly, many long time "Who" fans (as opposed to "Hoo" fans - are there any of those? Form an orderly queue, ladies...) felt Adams was responsible for the show becoming too silly.

Gnomon - time to move on

I only saw about five minutes of Pirate Planet. Silly would be a good word. I seem to remember that the acting made Captain Jack Sparrow look staid and conventional.
