Sure! What would you like to do? Talk? Write? Go crazy? Rename the day Thursday to be "Thing"? Give us some idea.

Hi JD
If you hang about long enough an ACE (Assistant Community Editor) will be along to welcome you. In the meantime you might like to put something in your personal space.
Let us know who your are, where you are and what you are. You never know, you might be a visitor from outer space. We have a few of them here judging by some of the things they write.
We even have our own Messiah by the name of Nighthoover. He hasn't been around for a while but we are expecting him to return any day now. You are not him in disguise are you?

I live in the USA and I was wondering if anyone could help jog my memory about the hitchhikers guide. They are taking off my favorite show Dr. Who and replaceing it with the Hitchhikers guide. Also I am looking for any DR. Who shows on dvd or vhs I am very short on cash though and it is hard to find them

If they are replacing Dr Who with Hitchhikers it is probably the best move that any American TV company has ever made. Hitchhikers takes Science fiction into a whole different realm. It's the thinking mans science fiction.
Try this for starters;

Hitchhiker's TV series sucks.

Donald, you're treading on dangerous ground there. H2g2 has probably the biggest collection of Dr Who fans on the web.
I really liked the HHGTTG TV series. It was one of the best programs on TV ever. But there were only 6 episodes. So it'll probably be back to Dr Who very soon.

Oh, come on! It was almost exactly the same as the radio series, except for the cheap effect which add nothing to the show.

What has that got to do with anything. I never heard the Radio Series. I loved the state-of-the-art computer graphics special effects and the crummy prosthetic makeup.

You should get the radio series! It's great!

But it is so similar to the TV series, at least for the first six episodes, that it is hardly worth listening to.

It's not exactly the same, it has some differences later in the storyline, and it has much better acting.

I've seen the TV series and loved it, have got the DVDs even. Can't say I'm a fan of Dr. Who, cause all I can recall is, that I have seen it once or twice

sorry to interject, but i'm gonna have to go with Ralph the Wonder Llama on this one. the Tv series sucks.

I can't understand why a HHGTTG fan would also be a Dr Who Fan. As far as I can see they are poles apart when it comes to entertainment value.
I am old enough to have seen the very first episode of Dr Who with William Hartnell playing the Doctor. It looked a bit tame then and nothing I have seen has changed it. I never felt the urge to hide behind the sofa as a lot of Dr Who fans seem to do - even when the Daleks where doing their worst. Perhaps it is also that I can remember William Hartnell as a comedy actor that coloured my opinion.

Isn't that a bit like saying a Rammstein fan can't be a Tony Bennett fan as well?
Hi I am new here
I am Donald Sutherland Posted Feb 5, 2005
Thats is true. But you wouldn't expect a large proportion of Rammstien fans to be Tony Bennett fans as well which is what was suggested in Post 5 in relation to Dr and HHGTTG.

DNA didn't write the scripts but he was a script editor on Dr Who.

Ah, knew it was something like that! So, my thesis was, a liking of Dr. Who and Douglas Adams are not incompatible, as seems to be suggested above.
