>>Are those the cheesey puff things that send kids doolally?<
'doolally?' Is that a vernacular cognate of hyperactive?
I don't know. That large doses of MSG affects behavior wouldn't surprise me.
Anyhoo, I have no children at hand for experimental purposes, and even if I did they'd not get any of my cheese puffs

M&S also does these fabulous FIRE chili nacho chips ... after trying those out recently it's hard to go back to Doritos. Though it's even harder to get back to Gibraltar to buy more of the FIRE ones.

I tend to have some unusual tastes to begin with as far as food, some are actually pretty good.
But, some foods and drinks I drink that are not real sophisticated:
* Chocolate Diet Cokes (though best only if cold and carbonated)
* Grilled crab meat with mushrooms and malt vinegar served with horseradish sauce (only occasionally). It fits more in a weird category if anything.
* Chili cheese fries with jalepenos and if I can get them onions - goes back to my days at Fiesta Texas when I got to eat at least once during the work week at the employee cafeteria.

Cheezy Wotsits for me, Starbuck's coffee (massive with 2 extra shots)and McDonald's cheeseburgers
and being married to a who has high ideals, it's difficult to get away with that without a lot of pointing and scowling
Followed by gourmet food to show me the error of my ways

Wow, talk about the punishment fitting the crime, Sho.
Though I'm not sure there is actually an 'antidote' for McFood of any kind.

I had to google those, psychorp. They don't look too gross to me, though they're probably packed full of e-numbers and minimal chicken.
I make a version of those with chicken breast pieces, dipped in an egg and dijon mixture, then breaded and fried. Mmmmm...

Yeah, but then the humble dipper becomes a poncy, nancy goujon...

swl Posted Feb 2, 2008
There's nothing poncy or nancy about a goujon that's been prepared by dipping the chicken in a mix of egg and dried chillis though

I used to love KFC when I was a kid. Then again I also liked weiners & beans and Kool-aid.
These days I've upgraded to lentils with chorizo and a nice rioja.

How about those big, irregular brown crystals of sugar for tea?
I don't drink my tea sugared, but I buy those anyway so I can eat them plain
And chips with satay sauce, of course. Though I try to limit my intake of those

I want to know more about "Chili cheese fries with jalepenos and if I can get them onions".
That sounds totally to die for.

I also like that Sugar in the raw as a secret pleasure. I'll usually get a roll, spread a little butter on it, put the sugar on top and eat. It was sort of like a dessert.
Of course, the only place I've done this is at a bistro, where I had a nice chicken breast with avacado and Roma tomatoes finished with a red wine sauce over fancy mashed potatoes and garlic green beans. No one said anything though.

Back in 2006, I worked at Fiesta Texas as a Looney Tune and at times their human guardian. At lunch, once in a while I'd eat at the employee cafeteria. One of the things they had on the menu was chili cheese fries, which is basically steak-cut fries (probably the closest I've come to having chips) topped with chili con carne and nacho cheese, though they're also good with regular grated cheddar.
After I got my order, I'd continue down the line and there were the condiments, such as onions, pickles, jalepenos, and the other condiments, and I'd go and top the fries with sliced jalepenos and onions. It was cheap (about $1.75) and filling, which was good given what I did on a daily basis at work.
You can pretty much make them at home using the above, though I'd recommend the shredded cheddar as nacho cheese is a bit high most places I've looked.

Those sound awesome, Tigger.
But at home they'd have to be 'twice fried' chips ... those are the best!

I've just bought some green plantain "crisps" - deep fried and salted - and I think I'm addicted! So much better than the ordinary potato kind.

I was talking to a friend today about some favourite childhood meals that you wouldn't be caught dead eating these days, and I remembered tuna casserole. Gaaaa! Who else remembers that?
It was basically a tin of tuna, tin of condensed cream of mushroom soup, and cooked noodles all mixed together in a casserole dish and heated through in the oven (crushed crisps on top optional). Talk about sodium overload.
My friend reminisced about Kraft dinner and frozen fish sticks.
But of course these days we have more grown up versions of these foods, like mac & cheese that actually has cheese in it.
