"The warmth of April gave butterflies in particular a fantastic start – 11 British species recorded their earliest-ever emergence dates – but the deluges and cold that followed did real damage."

Does anyone remember April? "Fantastic start"? They were going OTT labelling it Global Warming back then - the weather's never right!

Well, the thing with smiley - choc is you can buy loads of different types, stockpile them in the fridge & the fillings are a delight rather than a pain.

Guess things haven't been working out for her since Dangerous Minds. And the prosecutor must have got bored with chasing after Top Cat.

Jane Tomlinson has died.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/west_yorkshire/6976050.stm

It's very sad to read of the death of someone who has been an inspiration to so many and who achieved so much. However, reading about her over the past seven years, I've often wondered, were I in her positions, would I rather spend the final short time in my life being with my family and loved ones, or running/cycling/swimming/trainng/etc non-stop to raise money for others. I'm sure that says more about me than her, it's just a thought though!

Dazz - my dad was run over by a police car. They said he ran out into the road. He didn't - they mounted the pavement instead! (At least he survived AND didn't get fined!)

Chinese internet police force introduce cartoon characters that will pop up on your computer (if you're in China, that is) to remind you not to visit any 'unsuitable' sites:

http://shanghaiist.com/2006/01/16/the_internet_na.php

I first read the story in Swedish, and that article linked to this story about Yahoo getting sued, accused of having handed over e-mails from Yahoo accounts to the Chinese police:

http://news.independent.co.uk/world/americas/article2465946.ece

And with less than a year left to the Olympic Games in China, Amnesty reports that China still has a very long way to go to fulfil human rights promises - did anyone *really* believe things would change for the better in the long run?
