There are few people who seemingly unknowingly touched many people of many generations. They weren't the best paid of 'celebs' in fact not celebs at all...they actually had talent.
The sort of people that had friends texting each other the recent ones that just knocked me and many others for 6 were:
John Peel, Linda Smith and now, Oliver Postgate. When I think of them I always fill up.
Probably the wonderful innocent honesty and integrity of what they did and what they stood for.
It's just a shame the media and TV laud the brainless, loud idiots who just stand for being famous or fames sake and taking the money and running to be forgotten a few years down the line with no legacy and ne'er a tear for them.

Re post 141 (Ray Harryhausen)
I can't find anything saying he's died - do you have a link?
His friend Forrest J Ackerman died last week. Now, he was a Sci-Fi movie legend - he's even credited with being the first to abbreviate Science Fiction into Sci-Fi.

Sad because she's part of our TV heritage. Beyond LoTSW let's not forget that she was in Crossroads too ...

Okay I´m rather embarassed now. I did of course mean Ackermann had died, not Harryhausen.
