Hmmm, but if your heart is pumping and adrenaline still running through your body, you have no chance of sleeping. Even without it usually takes me hours.

All I can say is it works for me.
There's another thing I've heard works a treat, for guys at least... if I had a penny for every woman I've heard complain that immediately after sex he rolls over and falls instantly asleep, I'd retire today. Can't say *that* works for me, however.

The problem for me is emptying my head. I can't fall asleep if I have a lot of thoughts churning through my head. It's not bad now, but when I was a kid I would lay awake for hours just trying to stop my brain from thinking or worrying about all sorts of things.

I think my falling asleep time is below the average. This depends when you start counting. I usually read a bit before I try to get some sleep. If I've been busy during the day, my eyes will start to close after a page or so, and I try to put my marker in the book and switch off the light without disturbing the sleepiness. But even if I just try to sleep, it hardly takes me more than 5 minutes. And after a night of drinking I can go from 0 to sleeping in 3 seconds.

Hmm, I'm wondering though that what affect it will have on the falling asleep speed when the sex is earlier in the day, rather than immediately prior to sleep, I think I feel my scientific investigation hat calling, time for some research

Let us know how you get on
When my children complained about not being able to get to sleep, I told them not to worry, just lie there & rest. Seems likely that if you don't get anxious about sleeping, you'll nod off when you need to.

It may take me some time, you know, if somethings worth doing it is worth doing well Right, now, I think a doubleblind trial, I'll need a control group, and have to catogrise the 'sex' into different catogries, to compair if there are any intra-sex differences, and of course, I'll have to consider the possible different combinations of male with female, female to female and male to male sex, anyone want to voluenteer for finding out about the female to female sex? thats a little beyond my abilitites

*sniggers*
maybe then you'll have to do different sexes with different situations...such as not at home, with mental illnesses, quickies...etc sorry.
Also when does this whole time thing start? from the minute you start lying in bed thinking sleepy things, or from when you start to drop off to sleep or what? Because you could lie in bed feeling really not tired and then of course the time would be ages...

This could be a thread that could cause insomnia. When I was younger I saw a documentary about the falling-asleep process. Thinking about it that night and constantly thinking to myself "what stage am I at now" kept me awake for ages.

I have more trouble staying a wake than getting to sleep.
Has no one thought of disciplining their simian as an aid to slumber. Its very relaxing....Ive heard from friends.
The few times I do have insomnia I make use of it and clean the house or strip the walls some tiresome job Id rahter not do but that still just about beats lieing there all night trying to get to sleep.
If you are *trying* then it aint going to happen is it!
Reminds me of the daftest thing I hear people say "Im trying to grow my hair"
"Are you? Funny mine does it all by itself"

I've begun my research, I wonder if It could make an 'interesting' guide entry? Feeling a little worn out at the moment, but really quite awake

I normally don't have any trouble falling asleep when I go to bed, but I can't seem to *stay* asleep. I wake up 2-4 hours later and *then* can't get back to sleep (until approximately ten minutes before the alarm is about to go off ).
Every now and then I manage a solid seven hours of uninterrupted sleep (I think a result of sheer exhaustion) and it's amazing - I feel reborn! I often wonder how incredibly fabulous I would feel if I got seven hours of sleep every night instead of the usual snatched moments of slumber.

Staying asleep - yes that's another problem. Twitchy legs, aching joints, too hot, too cold - impossible to settle down again

I hate it when your body clock takes over...a while ago I had to get up at 5:00 every morning for a fortnight...during the 3 weeks after that when I didn't need to get up that early I always needed to pee at 5:00 and then I'd get really hungry around 6:00
