I realise I'll probably get a (richly deserved) cyberslap for this, but can we have the word "humor" in a conversation entitled "British English"?

Anyway - to get back to the animals; you do know what the difference between a weasel and a stoat is, don't you?

K, if you recall, is an Hon Brit, and therefore has no imperative to use anything other than her own language.

Pray tell, DJ, what is the difference between a weasel and a stout?

A weasel is a small furry animal and a stout is a variety of ale
Stoats however are another variety of small furry animal.

Weasels, stoats, ferrets, stoat and otters all belong to that group, the Mustelidae. They are quite difficult to tell apart. So much so that when Ty, the makers of Beanie Babies, made one, they couldn't decide what to call it and named it "Runner the Mustelidae", with the following wimpy poem:

A ferret, mongoose, weasel or mink
What am I...what do you think?
Find a book, look and see
I'm whatever you want me to be!

A stoat is long and thin, dark on top and I think light underneath. A stout, on the other hand, is tall and wide, dark underneath and light on top. It is much commoner than the stoat.

Isn't it nice when you can pull different strand of the thread together in a phrase like 'weasel words', if you get my drift.

I reminded (in my sad lil' way) of the lyric:

I heard someone on the radio recently bemoaning the poor use of English on the internet (suggesting it's a bad influence) but mostly, as we all know, it's bad typing !

You'll not catch me using funny pictures. I prefer to express myself in words. That way no children will be attracted to the site and its allegedly adult content. (see threads on this subject - it seems nothing is suitable for children. Noone seems to have taken any notice of my remark that pages full of writing will scare off the most mature of kids, and these are then, by definition, mature enough to cope with anything said here).

Still that has nothing to do with this conversation. Can someone help out the poor "Person" asking the question under "Translation", please? My Navajo is a bit rusty.
