Of course I bumped into Billy and Piccadilly should be spelt thus but apart from that the above is all correct.

Erm.....The prevous mesage, by way of explanation, was supposed to be a reply to blueslider about his link to meeting Rolf harris
( See Above )and it has instead appeared in the " Brush with famous people " forum. So as you can probably tell this is largely incoherent and has absooutly nothing whatsoever to do with brushing past famous people, so you can stop reading this now and move on.
Thank you.
Seriously, stop reading.
Really. Stop it.

Well Clive, since you posted it here, and to throw a little more light on the subject for others who might pass by, worm charming is the art of getting the little buggers out of the ground. Each contestant is allocated a square metre of ground from which to charm the worms. One of the few rules I remember is that if you use a liquid it has to be fit for human consumption i.e. the worm charmer has to drink some of it. The winner is the person who gets most worms to come out of the ground in a given time, and no, I don't think just digging them up was allowed. Not a big spectator sport, granted, but it did get me into conversation with Rolf Harris .

Oh my goodness! I go off to class for a few hours and the posts have gone forth and multiplied! My printer is furiously spitting out all this lovely fodder and I will probably spend too much time working on this and not enough on my papers ("I'm really sorry Professor Vannicelli...H2G2 ate my homework"), but there *will* be something up this weekend...even if only my blood pressure.
Now..a disclaimer...
I swear insideout and upside down that I had *never* seen this whole idea put forth in the forum post BluesSlider mentioned above until just today. Totally freaked me out when I read his (or Demon Drawer's??) comment on writing an entry about meeting famous people.
And one more thing before I head off to catch-up on everything else...Demon Drawer...I liked it better as "Pumped into Billy.."

Okay...so I didn't get the entry going this weekend as promised. But, to be honest...I *did* have to look up lots of those celebrities because I am not familiar with them. Even rented "Mrs. Brown" to see Billy Connelly. He's almost as lovable as Sean Connery! I have the idea for how to construct the entry and I will get to it as soon as possible. Really!

Looking forward to it. I manged to forget one.
Dalton Grant, British high jumper, and me used to train at the same track in Kingston. Any athlete will tell you it is good training etiquette to do fast work on the inside lanes and jog or endurance work in the outer lanes. Well one day our University team were training as were Dalton's group and we heard him complaining to one of the coaches about another group breaking the rules. Well about 10 minutes later we were coming up behind Dalton's group fast. The guy in the lead of our group told us all to get ready to shout "track" which is shorthand for get out of the way. He did a count down with his fingers and the resulting job at the noise must have been close to a British record for the high jump.

Oh god...that one is perfect! The image I have of that group jumping will have me giggling all day, which will only confirm my classmates' assumption I am not altogether sane

I'm taking the 5th on that last comment. Too tempting.
