I've just bought an mp3 player, phillips hdd. But the instructions don't seem to be very helpfulsmiley - erm

I've got a software cd with it called Digital Media Manager which i download songs from my c: to. So, I'm saving a cd to realone player, to get it onto my c:...

I've just done this, then gone to my Digital Media Manager to import the cd into there. But it won't do it...smiley - erm

Can someone talk me through how to do this?

If you just copy the CD onto your c: drive it will be in .wav format - you´ll have to compress it into a mp3.

Have a smiley - ale and try again.
If you have already got this stumblestone out of the way,
have smiley - alesmiley - ale and don´t mind my ramblings.

There are lots of programs you can download for free to convert WAV to MP3. Just Google "wav to mp3 converter". smiley - cheers

I use the reassuringly named Simple MP3 Maker - you can download it from http://www.sofotex.com/Simple-MP3-Maker-download_L4564.html or a variety of other places. You stick the CD in your CD drive, select "Convert CD to MP3" and let it get on with it. Then you move the mp3 files to your mp3 player. What could be easier? smiley - erm

Yeah, but I edit sound files a lot, so I need a more powerful app. You can also convert MP3s with Windows Media Player, although hardly anybody knows how. Everyone argued with me when I told them that I have...smiley - erm

Um........ oh dear. smiley - erm My mp3 player shows up as a separate hard drive, so I can just copy the files to it. Does yours not do that?

You /should/ be able to just move the files (from within Windows Explorer, the system file manager) onto your E drive, or F drive, or whatever drive letter gets assigned to your mp3 player -- if it works as an external hard drive.

If it doesn't, there has to be a feature to 'import' files from other locations onto your mp3 player, using the Digital Media Manager software you have there - just has to be. That'll be, in such a case, how you move files onto your player. smiley - smiley

Simply go into 'My Computer' and find the place where the songs were saved by the converter program, and copy them, like you would any other file, like a Microsoft Word .doc for instance, over to the E:\ drive.

And that's it. Let them copy over, unplug the mp3 player from the computer and plug in the headphones. smiley - magic
