The shark one sounds ridiculous. Which viscera, exactly, were e-ed? (if you see what I mean ) Because most of them are pretty vital for the continued existence of a shark.
Incidentally, this "sharks need to keep moving" theory has also been debunked.

Not sure about the truth behind the shark thing as it was many years ago that I heard it, but it's a cool story nonetheless.

In that case you'd definitely be right... it's a well known (but not useless) fact that stuff a bloke told you down the pub is invariably true.
