I understand... but there is more to you than just your head, isn't it? What does it help when you have a full quantity of hair and are completely out of shape? I mean for the looks. True beauty comes from within anyway,as we all knowsmiley - winkeye

Sunscreen isn't noticeable, No2 brother uses one specifically for his scalp. We used to have a bit of a smiley - laugh when he applied so assiduously, but after Dad's skin grafting to his scalp, we can see the sense of it now.

If it is any consolation both brothers met the loves of their lives after they went bald.

If you haven't seen noticable hair loss yet you're in luck. Pay very close attention to the kinds of shampoos, conditioners and styling products you're using. Most of them contain plastics, silicones, waxes and other ingredients which make the hair smoothe and shiny or make it stay where you want it. As those ingredients generally aren't water soluble they build up on the scalp and in the folicles, creating a barrier between the hair root and the scalp which is supposed to nourish it. This is compounded by testosterone-related excretions from the scalp itself which also form a gummy plug that regular shampoos won't break down effectively. Eventually the root withers and the hair falls out, and if the folicle is permanently plugged it'll go dormant and then finally die completely.

Nioxin, Phyto and Rene Furturer all have hair hair care lines (which I've used) specifically designed to prevent hair loss and maximize the growth potential of the hair follicles still alive on your head. They are not drugs, and don't 'cause' new hair growth, but they maintain a healthy scalp and help you to keep the hair you have. I've been using these products for the past couple of years and it's made a huge difference towards reversing my thinning hair, which was a big concern as female balding seems to run in my family and my head is too flat to be unconventional and just shave it all off.

You think all those ointments, drugs and such do actually help? I think we should simply accept it, as well as we all cannot be skinny with big... oh whateva, and stay 20 for the rest of our life.
