By the same token, I did wonder if Aristotle had an Erdos number.

I didn't revive this one!
Although...
I am plummeting the archives at the minute, looking for a particular long-lost thread, so I have resurrected one or two.

Anyone here who had collaborations with the late Barton U160070 can claim 4; he did something on stage with Sir Michael Redgrave at some point, and has a Bacon number of 3.
Michael Redgrave was in Rime of the Ancient Mariner (1975) with Miriam Margolyes
Miriam Margolyes was in Balto (1995) with Kevin Bacon.
3 for collaborations with ~jwf~ U162344 who has 2.
John Fulton (I) was in George's Island (1989) with Maury Chaykin
Maury Chaykin was in Where the Truth Lies (2005) with Kevin Bacon

I have recently been thwarted in my attempts to get a lower Bacon number (currently 4). I've been a non-professional ensemble member in several shows with professional actors/singers. One of those was Courtenay, which featured Loren Geeting as the leading man (I even exchanged [sung] dialogue with him). He was involved with Sweeney Todd, but as the chorus and 'ghosts' were cut from the film, he didn't actually end up in it. That would have brought me down to 3 and would have ensured that they were all 'appeared with', as my current one includes a 'directed', which is cheating, really.

Hedy Lamarr to Kevin Bacon:
Hedy Lamarr played Joan of Arc in "The Story of Mankind", in which Napoleon was played by Dennis Hopper.
Dennis Hopper was in True Romance with Brad Pitt.
Brad Pitt was in Sleepers with... Kevin Bacon.
Just three movies required.

Really? Wouldn't she have been just a tad older than required to play Joan?
...flabbergasted

I also have it in my mind that Dennis Hopper would have been a tad young in 1957 to play Napoleon.
But there it is http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0051016/
Let the mind boggle.

Hm. All I can come up with is
I Kevin Bacon.
There's a guy in our IT department
who's the spitting image of Kevin Bacon.
I had a bacon sandwich for breakfast
yesterday morning.
However, following the rules:
1. My father used to work with a lady who
2. was the wife of Percy Herbert (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0378612/) who
3. was in "The Bridge over the River Kwai" with
4. Jack Hawkins who was in When 8 Bells toll with
5. Anthony Hopkins who, in October 1981, was in the same episode of "Entertainment Tonight" with Kevin Bacon. I had to check ImDB to find that last connection, though.
We need a smiley.

RE the first part of your comment, TC, that works for me!
What're the rules for if one of your relatives was in a film with KB?

Hi space cadette!
Depending on how close the relative is, I reckon you deserve a Bacon number of 0.5 - 0.75 for that.

Her relative would have a Bacon Number of 1 though, so she should be 1.5 or something.

Found ~jwf~ on Youtube - in Homeless To Harvard, with the delightful Thora Birch (out of Ghost World). The better bit is after 9 minutes.
