Anyboby up for a new game?
turvy (Fetch me my trousers Geoffrey...) Started conversation Jan 3, 2003
What with all the original h2g2 stuff reappearing and all I was trawling around and noticed a few things.
Like F1, the conversation forum for A0 which does not exist .
I began to search through A numbers and noted a pattern (see my journal).
What about a new game?
Each player of the game posts an A number (eg A18).
If the number is live the next person to post starts a new conversation at the A number, if possible, which contains the next link (A number in the sequence).
If it is a deleted entry then the player returns to the original game thread and lets others know that the A number was dead.
The next player then puts up the next in the sequence and leaves it for the following player.
And so on.
Entries can be on any topic or simply the next A number. Stuff like random quotes, thingite philosophy etc, etc.
A18 is the first live link but is deleted. A27 is the first useable one and I have posted the link to the next, A135. remember the Rule of 9's and we're off!

Have you been to A135 yet. Add 9 to the number (A144) and go there. If you can post, do it. If not come back here and say so.
The next player either goes to A153 from here or from your post at A144 and applies the same rules.
I have only just thought of this and I have had a good deal to drink and it's late so if you can think of any improvements, go ahead!

A153 is also dead so add 9 and post a Rule of 9's game thread!

That's useful .. it only autolinks to valid A numbers.

Pick a number, add all the digits together, divide by ten, subtract the remainder from nine and write it on the end of the original number.
e.g.
72758
7+2+7+5+8 = 29
29 / 10 = 2 remainder 9
9 - 9 = 0
So the A number is A727580.

kea
Go to A180. In the address bar of your browser highlight the number 180 and change it (to 199 incidentally) and press return or enter.
If adding 9 doesn't work, work your way up in 1's until you hit a working A number, even if it is deleted, then go back to 9's.
Have fun.
