Cheap, easy, DIY solution:

Cigarette paper! Just stick a litte bit between the string and what you call the comb (the bridge).
That won't dull the sound if you're not too heavy-handed and your E string will last forever.
Well, it worked for me in the past...

PS: I don't recommand it for G strings, though. Looks terrible...

Nbcdnzr, the dragon was slain, and there was much rejoicing

My string broke, again. I had enough string left after the last time it broke, so it's not a new one, but it broke after about half a week. But i've found something out: If you put a capo at the 5th fret and adjust the strings a bit, you can play normal chords, and they don't sound bad. It just a temporary thing though. I really have to get around to buying that thicker string. smiley - groan
