Spot Changing Leopards
Researcher 188007 Started conversation Feb 16, 2006
I had a break from Hootoo for about a year and a half, from March 2004 to September 2005. Obviously during that time, things moved on, and I have noticed that some people have changed their names. I also noticed that, amusingly, some of these people are still referred to by their old names. So I've now managed to compile the following list:
Master B has made the slight change to Mu Beta.
Grey Desk prefers plying his trade in French these days, as Bureau Gris.
Mina seems to be Ideno, and also Naim [a cunning anagram I failed to spot*], which would explain a couple of things
And old Hoovooloo is, more surprisingly, Son of Roj Blake.
*Another anagram I had trouble with was Hallowe'en one, before I became aware of the name-changing phenomenon. For a while I genuinely thought Moon Ng was a new researcher, rather than a rather famous familiar one
Besides Hallowe'en, has anyone else changed their name, temporarily or for good?

"Hoovooloo is, more surprisingly, Son of Roj Blake"
Just curious... why is that surprising?
"some of these people are still referred to by their old names"
In my case I've found that *everyone* has moved over to the name extremely smoothly, with the exception of a single ignorant cretin.

One additional point - it's an entertaining game to spot the current monicker of the artist formerly known as agcBen.

Surprising to me at least. It's just that I thought of the two different monickers as two different people. Meanwhile, Nos. 1 and 3 on the list are often still called Master B and Mina.

I tend to call you SoRB for the purposes of current conversations but will sometimes refer to you as Hoo if I'm talking about things you said as Hoo (especially very Hooish things ).
GreyDesk switches between that and BureauGris periodically - am never quite sure why

Thanks Kelli,
That's the kind of info I'm after. I remember Gosho, but how would I know BH Calcutta?
And more importantly, why did I give this thread a ridiculously obscure title

I don't always remember the name changes, but Hoovooloo's is one that has certainly stuck in my mind. My view of his old acerbic online personality was always tempered by the fact that he turned out to be very likeable in real life, so the change to SoRB seemed very appropriate.
Della is someone who has changed her name quite a bit--she seems inclined to abandon a name if it's used much by someone she dislikes, though I never quite got the hang of how it worked.

I used to be known as Researcher Eagle 1 some time ago, and drifted away from H2G2 when I lost my job (downsized).
I lost my old login info but decided to say hi and stick around for a bit after congratulating Blues Shark on the Seattle Seahawks making the Super Bowl (The American football championship for those of you who don't know). They were his team on the now-defunct American Football Forum.
Anyhow, I'm not nearly as active as I was, but I may still pop in from time to time.

It's quite simple, Azara, though I'll probably be made to regert this clarification.
I was Della from June 2001 to January 2004. *Two and a half years.* Then, after getting a lot of grief from Hoo/Member/Number/now known as SoRB) I changed my name to Adelaide. Hoo and one or two of his pals ignored my name change for *18 solid months*.
That's the truth of it. I haven't changed my name since I've been back from my temporary hiatus.
Okay?

I was briefly plump after about four months of not eating and doing two hours of exercise a day - imminent weddings will do that for you. Am back to being fat again now that normal service has been resumed. One day I hope to make it to plump again, but not currently holding my breath
