Just wanted to ask the peeps around here where the most beautiful place they have ever been to is?
Doesn't have to be strictly the most pleasing to the eye - but maybe the place that made you feel the best, or has the best association to you when you look back on it.

But where would you rather be now - if you had to pick anywhere in the world that you've been to?

A little hotel which I don't remember the name of, in Flåm on the Sogne Fjord, Norway. The hotel had a picture window which looked straight down the fjord.

I think I will have to get back on you on that one. You know how you sometimes see those pictures of beautiful tropical forests, well I am in a country that have those. So maybe soon I will be able to say I've been to a really beautiful place.

Semongkong, Lesotho on a cloudless night - the stars seemed so close that you might brush them with your outstretched fingers.

Tropical forests = mosquitoes.

I haven't travelled far or much, but when I die I want to come back as a seagull and live on the rocks of the coast of Brittany.

Taquile (sic) Island on Lake Titicaca, Peru. Either that or the top of Dead Woman's Pass on the Inca Trail in Peru. Both extremely attractive places.

Knole Park - the approach to the House in the depths of Winter when everything is covered in a thick frost. Stunning, simply stunning.

The Cotswold countryside on a sunny day in May with the abundance of lush green vegetation decorated with delicate white blossom - On days such as those, one wonders why anyone would want to live anywhere else........................and then it rains!!!!

I once stayed in an appartment overlooking Lake Garda in Italy.

In the morning I woke up and saw the sunrise over the lake with the green hills on either side. Simply beautiful

Was that Limone?

No it was a Hotel Called Poiano just on the hill above the village of Garda.

I must say that Garda itself had to be ignored as it was spoiled by being a horrid tourist trap

Robert Louis Stevenson's grave, on the top of a mountain in Apia, Western Samoa, the most tranquil place I have ever experienced, with superb views down towards Apia and the sea.

Cefn Bryn, on the Gower peninsula, just over a year ago on a night so clear you could clearly see the Milky Way even though Swansea and Llanelli are barely ten miles away

Actually, *anywhere* in the world on a night so clear...

Avignon, Provence, France.

It's a beautiful walled city with a unique history, a fantastic river (Rhone), great wine, a fine theatre festival and superb food.

It's a pleasure for all the senses and the place where I was happiest.

toss-up between:

The Norweigan Fjords (not any of them in particular- went on a cruise round them-love them all1), the Palace of Versailles (particularly it's grounds), Prague Castle (ditto witht he grounds).

Oh, and the Silent Night chapel near Salzburg at Christmas. That was good.
