Do women like 'bad boys'?

i hate it when people leave the top off the toothpaste, ohhh and when people dont shut doors, i mean there is purpose there, and people just go and ignore it! anyway... of course you are bound to read about women wanting nice guys, this is because women, according to trivers parental investment theory, are choosy, they want people who can provide for thier children, so they are attracted to good job prospects, money in particular, sub consiously of course! and thus of course women want nice men, but that is becuase they think of the long term commitment to her and her family that the guy will bring, any hows, opposites do attract in some cases, and we all have a 'market value' which means you cant always get what you want, dang! lol, well guess i have said my peice, and guys really are not meant to be that fussy, so anything with a pulse, preferably good looking is what they want

Well, if you live in a thuggish world, the best option for your and your family is to go with the biggest thug.
Maybe the question is not about 'bad boys' but about 'strong men'.

I think the way you interpret it says more than any comment, Ben.

Well if you belive the "human instinct" series by Prof Winston then women are "programmed" to find certain male qualities attractive so a big butch guy wins out to a weedy bloke 9 out of 10 times. Its just natural selection!

Scruffier doesn't mean bad! I know a very nice boy who is also very scruffy!

I disagree about the passage in posting 81 about women being subconciously attracted to money. My wife isn't attracted to any money I may bring in, and I certainly don't have a particularly well paid job, but it pays the mortgage.

Dear Master B (well, it's one solution, but probably not the best one!)
If you've been dumped for being "too nice", don't despair, it probably means she wasn't too nice either (or maybe not at that time wise enough to appreciate you)
Keep being nice, it is a rare gift, & will be truly valued by someone
out there who is equally nice!
From one who found this out the hard way, now back on track.

ali1knobe: What I have a problem with is not that women choose the big tough guys over the geeks. I can understand that. What bothers me is if there were two big tough guys, one of them with a heart of gold and the other a real b*****d, it seems they would go for the b*****d.

Has this been said before?
Treat 'em mean;
Keep 'em keen.
... just write a bit of poetry now and again, and its breakfast in bed for life.

Maybe its because the b*****ds are better at manipulating people than they folks with hearts of gold i.e. If the relationship is on its way out the anyway the more manipulative guy with a silver tongue will end up dragging out the reltionship longer. The nice guy would be hurt and let go.

hello, the person who objected to post 81 (my post) well i just have to say that it is great that she is not attracted to your money, but she probably does not earn great amounts herself, its all about finding someone of a similar market value, of course however, not all women look for the same ideal, it is just specified that way by sociobiological theorists, there will be exceptions. Also to that guy that said women like ruff according to prof winston, that is true but only at ovulation, and that is just in looks, because high testosterone was needed in hunter-gatherer societies, women would have prefered nice, devoted, loyal mates aswell

I think the 'women like bad boys' idea stems from the fact that 'bad boys' are supposedly fun, impulsive, exciting to be around, and guarantee a good time, whereas 'good guys' are seen as being dull, boring, in-bed-by-ten-with-a-mug-of-cocoa, no sense of humour, stuck in a rut types. The same works in reverse for women. How often is it said that one type of girl is good for marrying and another type is good for fun?
I don't believe any woman (unless she has grown up in very unpleasant circumstances) would choose to be with a lying, cheating, abuser. Sometimes the 'nice guy' we thought we had in the first place turns out to be a complete b*****d, and it is very difficult for a woman to break out of such a relationship, especially if children are involved.
Um... I'm not sure if I've drifted from the topic a bit here or not, so to state my opinion... no, I don't prefer 'bad boys'. I prefer honesty, respect, affection, compatible sense of humour, and the integrity to say what you mean and mean what you say. And I believe that 'good guys' can be fun, impulsive and exciting too. *at least, I hope so*

Maybe it is because, as you get older, all of the nice guys are spoken for.
I have noticed that although I have stayed on excellent terms with my ex, he seems to be much more of a jerk than he was when I was married.
I don't know if he actually IS more of a jerk, or if he has become one since losing the delightful influence of such a wonderful woman () or if he just cannot be bothered to hide his inherent make jerkishness.
And one other thing I have discovered that even the nicest guys (including the ones which are spoken for) can behave like complete b*****ds when it suits them.
Odd, that.
a bitch when it suits her called Ben

Totally ben everyones got a bit of a B**** or B****** in them I mean if eveyone was nice all the time life would be boring.
BTW the stuff I said about prof winston, i meant *if* you believe it, it is far more complicated than the show made out as you say there will always be exceptionsmmany factors (such as money) can come into play, I mean how does all that explain homosexuality or bisexuality?
Do women like 'bad boys'?
Miss quixotic Posted Nov 12, 2002
indeed, that is a major flaw in the sociobiological theory, homosexual relationships are very understudied. Of course people have flaws, nobody is perfect (hey, i'm nobody! lol) and everyone gets fustrated every now and then and thus does not act in the best possible mannor but that does not mean that they are horrid people

I'm not too sure of the thread.
The James Bond is the good guy?
And the bad boy is?
Or does someone not explicit in his duplicity, treachery, amorality, his shedding of blood and the use of drugs and alcohol only half qualify him as a secondary hack in your stable?
